Wim about Wine | Wine in Moderation

Wim stands for Wine in Moderation and it’s a Dutch name for a man. In the Netherlands, the Royal Dutch Association of Vintners (KVNW) initiated the International Wine in Moderation initiative. The KVNW takes their social responsibility in the provision of wine very serious and wants to encourage responsible wine consumption by consumers. ‘Wim about Wine’ has to become the platform for the Dutch consumer to find tips and explanations about the moderation of consuming wine.

Wine in Moderation

Worldwide, it is recognized that the consumption of alcoholic beverages is not without risk. This also applies to wine. Too much alcohol is not good for health. Just as too much sugar, too much fat or too little exercise. Because wine also has positive aspects, it is important that wine drinkers know what a responsible wine consumption entails. For this purpose ‘Wine in Moderation’ has been developed, an international initiative supported locally in each country. By connecting with Wine Moderation.eu the Netherlands can benefit from the international knowledge in the field of responsible wine consumption. The initiator KVNW has always supported responsible wine consumption and was one of the founders of STIVA and the advertising code for alcoholic beverages.

Wim & inspiration

Wim enjoys giving tips on how to enjoy wine in moderation. How many glasses can you actually drink? And how full can you pour these glasses? And if you only drink a large amount of wine in the weekends, is that healthy? Wim answers all sorts of questions and gives tips. Besides that several friends of Wim wrote a column on the website, including Hubrecht Duijker and Harold Hamersma.

Petro Kools of restaurant Da Vinci (** Michelin) in Maasbracht and Wim are also good friends. Restaurant Da Vinci has a Wim wine pairing. With this wine pairing, consumers will be served a very small amount of wine, enough for you to taste and enjoy. A great idea that will hopefully be followed by many other restaurants.
