It’s a Valora brand: Frittenwerk. Their first location opened in 2014 and now the chain has 40 plus locations in Germany. Butter made from CO2
Savor has developed a technology that turns carbon into cooking fats, oils, and other food products. They’ve now claimed to have created a dairy-free butter alternative—and are working on alternatives to ice-cream, cheese, and milk—through a thermochemical process that builds fat molecules, creating chains of carbon dioxide, hydrogen and oxygen.
As they say on their website: “Savor makes delightfully rich foods without animals, farmland, fertilizers, hormones, or antibiotics. These are real fats, not a substitute. That means all the calories to carry all the flavor. All they lack is the compromise – on performance, environmental impact, or price. Check out their website, linked in the title for more details. Or check their TikTok post about testing the butter in croissants!
