Roadrunner | A documentary about Anthony Bourdain
The posthumous release has been shown in theaters nationwide since July 16 before heading to streaming on HBO Max and CNN. As a refresher, the new documentary—which has been called an “act of therapy” in early reviews—will give an intimate look into the “uncommon life of the late storyteller, explorer, and chef, Anthony Bourdain” with footage of both Anthony himself and some of food industry professionals discussing their experiences with him.
Van Leeuwen ice cream and Kraft debut ‘mac and cheese’-flavored ice cream
Comfort food in a cone – A limited-edition macaroni and cheese-flavored ice cream will hit freezers nationwide this week, Brooklyn-based ice cream maker Van Leeuwen and Kraft Heinz announced last week.
Inspiration for all ice cream parlors: why don’t you work together with local business to create exceptional, limited edition flavours! It might give you some free publicity.
Immersive cinema in Paris by Dream factory
Stop watching, Start living! This is the credo of the French Dream Factory. They’re going to create the situation that guests can experience movies in a new way. More than 2500m² of decorations reproduced to create a real life experience in which guests can interact freely with the characters in the film, and watch the action unfold all around them. The spectacle will be held from November 2021 till February 2022, events from 19.00 till 0.00. They got their project financed with crowdsourcing the entrance fee by 250% at Kiss Kiss Bank Bank.

Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam
Last week we wrote an article about the Illuminarium Experiences in Atlanta and that reminded us about the great experience we had at L’Atelier des Lumières in Paris. But it seems we’re getting a Fabrique des Lumières at the Westergas terrain in Amsterdam as well, this new digital art center will open its doors in April 2022.
Culturespaces, the European creator and operator of the acclaimed ‘Atelier des Lumières’ in Paris, in collaboration with Westergas, announces the opening of a new digital art center on the Westergasterrain in Amsterdam. The opening of the Fabrique des Lumières – which will showcase light projections by classical and modern artists – is scheduled for April 2022. With the opening, Westergas is building on its vision: to make the Westergasterrain a Culture Village with an open character that is attractive to all ages. Recently they opened a ‘Infinity des Lumières’ in Dubai and they have several location all over the world, check it out in the Amsterdam press release, link in the title.
Just Salad introduced the Zero Foodprint Salad to support regenerative agriculture
Fast-casual chain Just Salad introduced the Zero Foodprint Salad. Including ingredients like red cabbage, wheat berries, grape tomatoes, mint and vegan feta, the new salad was created to directly support regenerative agriculture, with 15% of sales directed to Zero Foodprint, which provides grants to farmers switching to regenerative farming, through methods like cover cropping, managed grazing, and composting. Regenerative agriculture can reduce carbon emissions, restore the soil, and make for a more resilient food system.
Yard Bar in Austin is also a dog park
As we have our beloved labradoodle Jimmy who is kind of the mascot of our office, we would love to visit a bar like this one! We always wonder why there aren’t more parks in the world where you and your dog can have a great time! And like all the cat cafés, we think a bar like Yard Bar in Austin might also attract people that love dogs but don’t own one. Great idea to leave your house, not asking your dog if he or she wants to go out but instead if he or she wants to drink a pint with you!
Chick&Cheez is new challenger on busy fast food market in Belgium
the first branch of fast food chain Chick&Cheez opened in Liège, serving original recipes of fried chicken and sauces based on cheese. It’s developed by QSRP, the Belgo-Luxembourg-based fast food specialist that operates Burger King, Quick, O’Tacos, NordSee and Go! Fish in seven European countries. This ambitious newcomer on the busy market of chicken restaurants wants 38 Belgian branches by 2024 and plans a roll-out to France. More at the website of Retail Detail Belgium, link in the title.
Midnight Trains | As of 2024 we can take a ‘hotel room on rails’ to travel from Paris to other European cities
The hotel room offers comfort and a sustainable way to travel. Midnight Trains will try to entice people to take a sleeper train instead of a plane. The hub of this French startup will be in Paris with planned destinations like: Madrid, Barcelona, Porto, Rome, Florence, Venice, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Edinburgh. For short weekends in those cities it might be a relaxed way of travelling! A private cabin with high-quality bedding and bathrooms, meals and the next morning you arrive at your destination. It will even save you a hotel stay, or you could stay a couple of nights longer! 😉 It made us think of Cabin in the USA, offering a hotel on wheels between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
