24H Chefs cooking marathon roaring success
Sunday, May 26, at noon, the fifth edition of 24H Chefs kicked off at Kasteel Kerckebosch in Zeist. 24 of the Netherlands’ very best chefs including Nelson Tanate of De Librije, Leon Mazairac of Karel V and Joris Bijdendijk of Rijks, passed the baton to each other in the kitchen for 24 hours to raise money for the Prinses Máxima Center for pediatric oncology in Utrecht. At the end of this blistering culinary relay, nearly 3.000 dishes had been served and have 500 guests enjoyed the dishes prepared by these top chefs. Just after noon, the somewhat tired looking but overjoyed organizer and creator Tjitze van der Dam announced the record proceeds of € 195.000.
The Cannaloni Box
The Cannoli Box’s range consists of a careful selection of traditional and innovative flavours that will please any lover of these Italian sweets. Their men also hand out their live filled and dipped cannoli at parties and celebrations. They try to minimise their environmental footprint. KARMA KITCHEN | Mission Masala enterprises opens second restaurant in Brussels
KARMA KITCHEN will open its doors this summer at the Old Grain Market in Brussels. After their conquest of Brussels with the ferociously successful flagship restaurant Bombay BBQ in 2023, Mission Masala business owners Pavan and Tim are already set for a second Brussels location. Mission Masala started under their own name with restaurants in Antwerp and Ghent and continued their adventures with restaurant names “by Mission Masala Enterprises. With Mission Masala, they put Indian food on the map in Belgium, paving the way for more Indian culinary concepts. Now they continue their culinary journey with Karma Kitchen, which features traditional dishes from South Asian regions such as Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal in addition to Mission Masala Indian classics. Inspired by their recent culinary explorations, Pavan and Tim aim to surprise and inspire the Belgian public once again. The new gem between Dansaert and Sainte Catherine will also offer delivery and takeaway.
FREE HERI HERI FOR ALL | Reminds us that Keti Koti is of and for all of us
This connecting, Amsterdam grassroots initiative is uniting society with thousands of Heri Heri dishes. Although the Slavery Past Memorial Year ends July 1 2024, KIP Republic continues their mission. Five years ago, sisters Ira and Ayra KIP started the Free Heri Heri for All initiative by distributing four thousand free Heri Heri dishes in Amsterdam. Heri Heri is a traditional Surinamese dish whose ingredients were common and eaten by the enslaved during the time of slavery. This year more than twenty thousand dishes will be distributed, in cooperation with organizations such as Rabobank, John Adams Institute, Library Bussum, OSCAM, 013 Poppodium, and the Royal Palace Amsterdam.

The Onioissant
The Onioissant, a new croissant hype in New York! It’s a combination of an onigiri and a croissant, crispy, buttery exterior and soft, flaky interior packed with a savoury filling. Spotted at the account of Miss Rubo and the Onioissant is an idea from Café W & Bakery in Flushing, Queens. Check out their website in the link in the title.

Croissant balls or BallSsants
A croissant ball, or BallSsant. Spotted in Hong Kong, inspired by a croissant and in a ball shape. Great idea in orange, for our fellow Dutchies, during the upcoming European Championships! Arte by Padaria is the creator of the BallSsants and it is croissant dough on the outside and a Madeleine inside. Check out their Instagram in the title! And the Instagram reel below.

First benefit dinner at Eden Restaurant raises 4.250 euros for ‘Make a Memory’
The first Benefit Dinner for Make a Memory at star restaurant EDEN in Valkenswaard raised 4.250 euros. With this amount, no less than 21 reports can be made by the foundation, which photographs seriously ill, terminal and deceased children at the request of parents and through the mediation of care professionals.

Skybar Antwerp
After several successful pop-up editions on the roof of Antwerp’s Lindner hotel, Randy Boden and his Skybar will move to a new, permanent location this summer. On the tenth and top floor of The Beacon – the former Tolhuis on Sint-Pietersvliet in Antwerp – Randy will install a permanent Skybar together with Beka Gogeshvili (Fiera, Sin Seven) starting June 14. The original idea remains: a “high energy” rooftop guest lounge with live music and DJ’s on weekends.
Skybar Antwerp will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 3 p.m. for bar & bites, and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dining. After 11 p.m. until closing, guests can order appetizers.
Revival of our Dutch pancakes or as we call them ‘poffertjes’?
Rivival of our small Dutch pancakes? Spotted on Lule Eats‘ Instagram account, poffertjes served in a trendy way with all kinds of toppings. In the title, the link to the website of Puffy Lil’ Pancakes in Belgrade. If they reintroduce our poffertjes, our poffertjes entrepreneurs and pancake restaurants owners can take inspiration from their idea of toppings!

The World’s first Michelin-starred taco stand | El Califa de León
El Califa de León is the very first Michelin-starred taqueria in the world, receiving one star when the guide announced its inaugural Mexico rankings recently. And now the taco stand is experiencing the effects of the honour, with hours-long lines for its tacos, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.
