Trends we spotted | Week 12
At horecatrends.com we spot many national and international trends on a daily basis. We pick the most interesting ones to write about, the other trends we use in our weekly column ‘Trends we spotted this week’.
With this week links to articles about among others, a pop-up of innovative cocktail hub Licorería Limantour at Fandi Mata in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Spotted in many Instagram posts, caviar on baked potatoes, served in for example the piano bar The Nines and Caviar Kaspia in The Mark Hotel. Are we going to serve that in Europe as well?
And more inspiration from Instagram: Mr. Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur has created a Parmesan Espresso Martini. And Taste Film in London, a new way to watch what you eat.
We’ve been presenting tea in rectangular or square tea boxes for years but now there’s the T-Box.

Mexico City’s buzziest bar is popping up in Brooklyn
Frequently hailed as one of the best bars in the world, innovative cocktail hub Licorería Limantour is a marquee must-visit when traveling to Mexico City. They are popping up for a special two-night residency, March 31ste and April 1st, at Fandi Mata in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. You can enjoy their CDMX craft cocktails here.
Great collaboration! We can imagine that an exchange with bartenders from the Amsterdam scene would also do well in New York. And vice versa!
Caviar on your baked potatoes
We’ve been seeing lots of caviar on Instagram with the newest combinations! The Blog Guest of a Guest, link in the title, shows some images of caviar on baked potatoes. The images and dishes are from Jon Neidich’s piano bar The Nines and Parisian staple Caviar Kaspia that landed recently in NYC in The Mark Hotel. Are we going to be serving caviar on our baked potatoes in the Netherlands?

Serving tea in a T-Box
We’ve been presenting tea in rectangular or square tea boxes for years. Now there’s the T-Box, available online via the website, link in the title. “Anyone fancy a cup of T?” A piece of Dutch Design, made of sustainable bamboo with transparent or black protective lacquer. The hinges are hidden, and the magnetic closure and raised compartments keep the tea bags in place, even when the box is standing upright. The T-Box is shipped in protected 100% recyclable plastic.
FLORA ADORA | A lush limited edition of Hendrick’s Gin
Hendrick’s FLORA ADORA is available since March 1 and is a floral spring bouquet of gin for colourful cocktails. More details on their website, link in the title. You can use it to make a Wildgarden Cup: a medley of fresh mint, crisp cucumber, juicy raspberries, refreshing lemon juice, and some soda water. But it’s just as happy to go back to its roots as G&T with a slice of cucumber.
Recipe for the Wildgarden Cup: 50 ml Hendrick’s FLORA ADORA, 25 ml lemon juice, 25 ml sugar syrup, 3 cucumber slices, 6 mint leaves, 4 raspberries, and soda water. Fill a tall glass with ice, add Hendrick’s FLORA ADORA, lemon juice, and sugar syrup. Top with soda water and garnish your glass like a colourful garden with cucumber slices, mint leaves, and raspberries.
