Design | New ‘cathedral of fried chicken’ COQODAQ opened in New York
We love the cathedral like design of the new restaurant Coqodaq on 12 east 22nd Street in New York. The design is done by the Rockwell Group. It’s Inspired by owner Simon Kim’s (also owner of Cote Korean Steakhouse) desire to create a modern cathedral for all things fried chicken, light is a key material, layered and choreographed to emphasize the beautiful food and the guests. They serve some appetizers and an ‘Our chef’s Fried Chicken Feast’ consisting of chicken consommé, fried chicken with noodles, dipping sauce and vegetables. The feast is completed with soft serve frozen yoghurt. We love the design!

Clean the World is celebrating 15 years of making the world a better place
Clean the World, a global leader in sustainable recycling solutions, is proud to celebrate its 15th year of operations this February 9th. With every soap and plastic amenity recycled, Clean the World reduces the impact of pollution on our planet and improves the lives of women, children, and communities globally by donating new soap bars to global NGOs, such as The WASH Foundation. We wrote an article about the idea behind Clean the World, back in 2017. More details about the organization on their website, link in the title.
IKEA is coming to Paris Fashion Week this February
From 29 February to 3 March, IKEA will take over 28 Rue de Lappe close to Paris’s Bastille. Taking place during Paris Fashion Week, the exhibition IKEA+ is inspired by the fact that 48% of people globally do not feel that their life at home is represented in the media, an insight from the IKEA Life at Home Report. More details about ‘Life at Home’, a new collection of portraits by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, will be unveiled at the exhibition. Taken by Leibovitz during her tenure as IKEA Artist in Residence, the collection features twenty-five portraits from homes in Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. There will be food, music and more, details in their press release, link in the title.
McDonald’s restrooms in Japan have cleaning devices for phones
It’s a system called WOSH, developed by the Japanese company WOTA, link to their website in the title. WOSH is a sustainable hand-washing stand that, along with a reusable water-based sink, uses a hydrological cycle system and deep ultraviolet lights to disinfect your smartphone. A clean phone for clean hands. 99.9% sterilization in just 30 seconds. You can wash your phone whilst you wash your hands!

Collaboration THE BUTCHER with the Frites Atelier in Amsterdam
An exclusive collaboration between THE BUTCHER and Frites Atelier: for three months, THE BUTCHER will present a special menu with five ‘loaded fries’ dishes, created in collaboration with the fries of Frites Atelier. The following dishes have been created for this collaboration: ‘The Mexican’, a tasty creation with grilled chicken, ‘Smashed It’, an innovative dish that combines the popular ‘smashed burger’ with fries, ‘Back Ribs’, ‘Nacho Libre’, a vegetarian option with crispy nacho chips and the ‘Papas Bravas’ which is inspired by patatas bravas. Check out the Instagram post about this new menu in the link in the title.
Bucket list McDonald’s locations including the McSki
Coincidentally, we were talking about McDonald’s McSki location in Sweden over lunch this week. Some of us had not yet seen it on social media. McDonald’s has listed some unusual locations including the McSki in the reel below. We would also love to see a McSki in the ski resorts in Austria or France! By the way, the location in Porto (Portugal) looks really amazing also.

‘Single Cup Washer’ by Hobart
We were talking about using reusable cups at the office and how to deal with this as a coffee shop. Do you wash the cup before pouring coffee or not? A colleague talked about Hobart’s ‘Single Cup Washer’ (SCW) that she had seen at the Horecava. This Single Cup Washer allows you to wash one reusable cup in an energy-efficient and hygienic way. The SCW consumes little water to clean a cup. After 30 seconds, the private cup is clean again and ready for the next coffee to go. More details on their website, link in title.
Stayokay is the first hostel chain in the world to switch to bamboo toilet paper from The Good Roll
Stayokay, the largest hostel chain in the Netherlands, is taking another big step in sustainability by becoming the first hostel chain in the world to switch entirely to bamboo toilet paper from The Good Roll. Stayokay, with a strong focus on sustainability, is always looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint. The switch to bamboo toilet paper is a logical step in this commitment to sustainability. Bamboo is a fast-growing renewable resource that has significantly less environmental impact compared to traditional toilet paper made from wood pulp. More details in their press release, link in the title.
