The Social Hub San Sebastián opens its doors

On the journey of continued European expansion, ‘The Social Hub’ landed in Donostia-San Sebastián on February 1st. It’s a never-before-seen model in this city where travelers, locals, entrepreneurs and students from all walks of life can come together to learn, stay, work, and play. Oleato beverages now available at all Starbucks stores in the U.S.

February Last year we wrote about the new combination of coffee and olive oil introduced by Starbucks Italy. We have tried it in Italy and really liked the taste of it, we even tried it again in one of the Starbucks Roasteries in NYC. In the link in the title a story by Starbucks, it seems that the Oleato beverages are now available at all Starbucks stores in the USA. We hope to spot these drinks in Starbucks stores in the Netherlands soon!

Sofitel launched its brand new concept – The Haute Croissanterie

Initially, this unprecedented experience is launched by ambassadors from three hotels of the Sofitel brand: Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk in the United Arab Emirates, Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel in South Korea, and Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo in Panama. Together, they perfected the recipe of their Pur Beurre croissant promising the best croissants in town. The ambassadors have collectively trained other pastry chefs in their region to spread their excellence and savoir-faire during a dedicated week in Dubai. Thanks to these 3 ambassadors, 30 Sofitel properties did launch ‘The Haute Croissanterie’. The concept was launched on ‘Croissant Day’ celebrated all over the world on January 30th. More white vegetables from Koppert Cress

Koppert Cress‘ innovative ‘White Vegetables’ collection now also includes Feather Tops, Talpa Shoots and the updated Sweet Lov, all sprouts are grown in the dark. Earlier, Koppert Cress introduced Morar Shoots and Sweet Peeper. Check out what restaurant Bolenius is doing with these new white vegetables. Recipes in the link in the title.

Subway® in the USA announces strong start for 2024 with high demand for their new footlong ‘Sidekicks’

Since debuting last month, guests have rushed to their local Subway to experience ‘Subway Sidekicks’, featuring Subway Footlong Cookies, Cinnabon® Footlong Churros, and Auntie Anne’s® Footlong Pretzels. Available exclusively at Subway restaurants, more than 3.5 million Sidekicks have been sold in the two weeks since launch, resulting in Subway rushing additional supply to meet guest cravings. In particular, the Subway Footlong Cookie has had unprecedented demand. More details in their press release in the link in the title.

Stayokay Hostels back in Brabant with new hostel at Strijp-S in Eindhoven

The Dutch hostel chain Stayokay has taken over the operation of the Blue Collar Hotel in Eindhoven since February 1st. This is the 21st Stayokay hostel in the Netherlands and gives Stayokay a renewed presence in the southern province of Noord-Brabant.

The hostel is located in the Klokgebouw. This building was built in 1928 to a design by A. Broekert, architect at Philips Ingenieursbureau. It served for a long time as a Philite factory that produced bakelite for the many Philips products. The building gets its name from the large clock in the tower that incorporates the letters of Philips. The name Blue Collar refers to the blue collars of the workers who worked in this building for a long time. The Klokgebouw is a national monument and today serves as a business centre with more than 100 entrepreneurs from the creative sector. Owner of the building is the Eindhoven housing corporation Trudo.

Sushi crepes | Great idea for pancake day?

Cocomelt is a chocolate café in London that specialises in visually unusual desserts, chocolate-infused drinks and specialty coffees. Their mission: “Crafting visually stunning desserts that taste as good as they look, satisfying your cravings and your instagram feed”. Among other things, they serve ‘sushi crepes’ that you can dip in white chocolate. Great idea for pancake day?

New cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi ‘Comfort’ and he is coming to Amsterdam

Yotam Ottolenghi’s new cookbook Comfort is a compelling collection of more than 100 recipes infused with stories of his childhood and home. With the book, Ottolenghi not only celebrates his first major release since the seminal works ‘Simple’ and ‘Flavour’, but also an international ‘Comfort’ tour with an exclusive stop at Amsterdam AFAS Live on November 12 this year. Tickets for the show are available here. An early announcement: the book is on sale from September 5 this year!
