At the redaction of Horecatrends we spot a lot of national and international trends on a daily basis. We pick the most interesting ones to write articles about, the smaller trends we use in our column ‘Trends we spotted this week’. The escape room hype is still going strong, certainly in the Netherlands. It was the most booked teambuilding trip in 2015. Time for the hospitality industry to benefit from. Therefore High Attention Events in the Netherlands launched a dinner game on the market: the Escape Room Dinner Quest.

This signature sushi roll from a popular Sushi Restaurant in New York is quite special

This video went viral on the internet last week and was shared by almost 3.000 people within a week. The sushi of restaurant Catch in New York exists of crabmeat, pickled daikon and is topped with salmon. It is drenched with miso-honey sauce and is seared with a blow torch.

Landal introduces a treehouse

Landal introduces a new spectacular treehouse at park ‘Miggelenberg’. The house is completely made out of wood and is up to 3 meters in the air. It has the look of a real treehouse. Guests can enter the house by stairs. The kids can go down through a slide.

Restaurant Visaandeschelde in Amsterdam served an elderly neighbour a meal everyday

Restaurant Visaanschelde in Amsterdam South has been put in the spotlight. For four years the staff brought a daily plate of food to their elderly neighbour, due to a stroke she could not cook anymore. She always ate the same as the staff. Now she is going to live at a nursing home, so the service is no longer necessary. The lady thanked the team by telling a Dutch television show and they thanked the restaurant owner!
