The Ark | Partying at festival on a luxury cruise ship

5-1-2017

By the end of August the first edition of the The Ark Festival will take place. The special feature of this multi-day festival is that the party isn’t at a normal festival ground but on ‘The Freedom of The Seas’, a luxury cruise ship. The tour starts and ends in Barcelona after visiting Ibiza and Marseille. It seems that the festivalgoer loves special occasions and locations. We spotted festivals at bungalow parks, thermal baths and of course the fitness festivals.

The Ark

As many as 4,000 party animals can board this festival. The cheapest tickets are € 549 per person. Tickets include a three nights sleeping place in the smaller cabins of the ship. If you rather go for luxury, for just over a thousand euros you will sleep in a suite. The Presidential Suite at a price of € 60,000 is already sold out.

The world’s biggest dance organizations like Ministry of Sound, Elrow and Girls love DJs contribute to this spectacular festival. Together, they will ensure that the seven stages will be filled with more than 50 DJs. During the event, meals and drinks are included. Alcohol should just be paid for.

Heavy Metal boat

It is not the first time that a large-scale music festival is held at sea. Next month, the heavy metal cruise 70,000 Tons of Metal will sail for the seventh time from Florida, USA.

Tickets

Tickets are still available for The Ark. These can be reserved through the website of the festival.

Inspiration

We already spotted a couple of odd places for festivals, and The Ark most certainly can be added to that list. Last year our colleague David Maartense wrote about the Bungalup festival in a bungalow park in the Netherlands. We also wrote about the fitness festivals of Les Mills Live. These festivals, at which thousands of fitness fanatics work their butt off at dance music, are being organised for a couple of years now by Reebok in cooperation with Les Mills. In Budapest they’re already organizing ‘sparties’ for a couple of years. This festival is being held at the thermal baths in the city. It looks like the real festivalgoer is in for surprises!
