Stoepmakers Oostplein
Inspiration from a local festival from Rotterdam. This weekend is the first weekend of Stoepmakers Oostplein (stoep means sidewalk, maker means maker. Stoepmakers is even in Dutch a non-existing word). The program is created by the residents and businesses in the neighbourhood. As of the 16th of June, everyone is welcome at the temporary artfully designed Oostplein. There will be monthly activities. Stoepmakers Oostplein ends on the 16th of September during Parking Day.
Stoepmaken: 4 times a local neighbourhood festival
The Stoepmakers Oostplein festival will be organised four times: opening weekend the 18th and 19th of June, the 23th & 24th of July, the 20th & 21st of August and the 17th & 18th of September. It is an initiative of Observatorium and the square will be redeveloped by LG Architects in order to create a welcoming and open atmosphere. During the festival weekends a cultural program will be offered at which craft and neighbourhood meet each other. Visitors can take a discovery tour with the guides of Gilde Rotterdam, play old Dutch games with their neighbours or check out the inside of a fire truck at the fire station Bosland. Eat a freshly baked pancake at the mill or start your Sunday with yoga lessons of Bodhi Yoga and Mindfulness in the open air.
De Bakkerswinkel also cooperates with Stoepmakers Oostplein
The Bakkerswinkel (a bakery located at the square) also cooperates with a culinary concept called ‘Op de Planken’ (on stage). Every weekend they will be working with guest-chefs and the best bakers around town. From the cultural background and knowledge of these chef they put together a special menu with bread and craft as foundation. Where different cultures mix. Guest-chef on the 18th of June will be Maher al Sabbagh (Marres Kitchen).
