On the 8th of December, Ibericus Amsterdam opened its doors. This specialty shop, located in the Haarlemmerstraat, offers several delicacies of the famous Ibérico pig, also known by the unoffical nickname ‘the Pata-Negra pig’. The ham will be cut on the spot, or served on a sandwich to-go or to enjoy in the seating of the shop. Ibericus Amsterdam is open seven days a week.

KFC meals on board at Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines is serving KFC in-flight meals onboard of select international flights between December 1 and to February 28th. KFC is a very popular chain in Japan, especially during the Christmas season. Customers traveling in Premium Economy and Economy Class will be served KFC’s Original Recipe two-piece chicken meal. Japan Airlines and KFC have created exclusive packaging for this meal.

With the new app Chefs Feed professional chefs judge each others dishes and reviews. The app is free to download at the iTunes store and is currently available in 15 cities in the VS and in London. The app is a complement to apps as Foodspotting and Yelp, which lets guests judge restaurants. Meanwhile there are 600 chefs connected to the app.
Create an attraction with Christmas

Design studio tha ltd. created a festive gingerbread village, which has been installed in MUJI’s Yurakucho store in Japan, and will stay there until December 25th. The miniature scene, made up of a hundred houses and lots of MUJI Christmas candy, can also be viewed from a dedicated website on a 24-hour livestream. The tasty diorama is interactive and visitors can tag a tweet or photo with the hashtag #mujixmas on Twitter or Instagram to see it appear in real-time on a small digital screen in the village and on the website.
Pizza hut perfume

As a component of a big social media campaign the Pizza Hut asked its fans to come up with a name for fictitious perfume with the scent of a just opened pizza box. On the Canadian Facebook page the reactions were so enthusiastic that the Pizza hut decided to give away 100 bottles of the perfume to the fans when the Facebook page reached the 100.000 likes. The stock is very limited and it is not easy to get a bottle of Eau the Pizza.

In the Belgian city Ghent, an interesting partnership started between the municipality and De Koninck beer brewery. The company De Lijn which provides public transport in Ghent, had to cancel the night services due to budget cuts. But due to the collaboration at the municipality and the brewery, the buses will still drive during the night. There will be no major changes for the passengers, only the look of the buses change. The timetable and tickets will remain the same.

Albert Heijn introduces a brand new service; ‘Albert Heijn Pick Up Point’. Customers order their groceries at AlbertHeijn.nl. The supermarket does the shopping for them and the next day they receive a sms to confirm the order and pick-up location. The service is free and the first Pick Up Point opened in Heemstede. Albert Heijn wants to expand the service, which is already offered in Naarden and Tilburg.

World record Chinese cabbage Gastronomixs

Gastronomixs has set a world record by making 103 dishes with Chinese cabbage. Over 60 chef cooks came together on Monday 3 December to join this challenge. The initiative was to share knowledge, and show that a daily ingredient can be prepared in a lot of different ways. The cooks were very happy with the result and would like to join more of these events in the future. Gastronomixs will organize live sessions in 2013 to share even more knowledge.

The iBook contains new dishes by star cook Peter Gast, pictures of the 10 year jubilee, interviews, reports and lots more. The iBook is published in co-creation with Crystal Park New Media. New restaurant in Dubai

A new restaurant opened in Dubai, called Gramo. A pay-by-weight business model to promote moderation in the growing region is adopted. Guests can choose from the à la carte service as well, as a buffet where the pay-by-weight model is employed. The idea is that, Guests will be more careful with the amount of food they select, in order to avoid paying for what they don’t end up eating.

A new initiative of the Dutch bakery Vlaams Broodhuys: top chefs will cook in the pop-up restaurant. For this time, he composed a 10-cours diner for €50,- per person. A suitable wine arrangement can be ordered as well. And off course the bread won’t be forgotten, a special bread is created for this occasion. Michelin Starred chef Niven Kunz will be the first to cook in one of the Baker’s Cafés in Amsterdam, from the 6th until the 13th of January 2013.

There will also be flex work places available and there are plans for winetastings and bookevenings. Books & Bubbles also offers original gifts and homely decorations.
First Oodlz noodle bar

Today the first Oodlz noodle bar opened in the Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam. The crew puts tasty cups of noodles together with fresh ingredients, on demand and especially for you. The shop is open from 11.30 to 21.00 o’clock. Noodle shops are extremely popular in New York, London and San Francisco. After a few pop-up stores in Amsterdam, this one seems to be permanent. Oodlz is founded by the makers of Frozz (frozen yoghurt).
