Rose & Vanilla, a Dutch patisserie that makes delicious, organic cakes without milk and gluten, has raised €300,000 with its crowdfunding through the platform CrowdAboutNow! This has reached the maximum 200% of the targeted loan.

Rose & Vanilla’s cakes are already being served at some restaurants and it is obviously a great and of course easy dessert to serve! One of our colleagues, Robin has been diagnosed with quite a few intolerances a few months ago; she writes blogs about her experiences in the hospitality industry. These are published on the Van Spronsen & Partners hospitality consultancy website. She is very happy with these kind of developments!

The funding will be used for a new production site, which is five times the size (700m2) of the former bakery, and for a number of new cake cafés, with the aim of having a spot in the five largest cities in the Netherlands so that even more people can enjoy the gluten- and milk-free cakes. In addition, Rose & Vanilla’s growth ambitions also lie beyond the Dutch border.

The story of Rose & Vanilla

The patisserie Rose & Vanilla was founded in 2011 by Daphne Giesberger and Erik de Wit. “It actually started with our children. One is lactose-intolerant and the other has a gluten allergy, so Daphne went into the kitchen and started working on gluten- and milk-free cakes.” says de Wit. As the cakes became increasingly popular, Giesberger and de Wit decided to open their own patisserie with cakes for everyone. “We do everything in the most sustainable way possible, but the most important thing we think is that the products are free of as many allergens as possible and are full of pure ingredients so that it’s really for everyone.” says Giesberger.

Availability

The cakes are currently available at two cake cafés; one in Utrecht and since recently one in Amsterdam. In addition, the range is available through several quality restaurants, museums, bakeries and high-end organic (online) retail outlets throughout the country. “The demand for the cakes continues to grow; thanks to the successful crowdfunding campaign, we can now not only scale up capacity but also keep production in-house!” says de Wit. Check out where you can taste them!

About the crowdfunding

The crowdfunding at CrowdAboutNow is a loan and the amounts invested will be repaid over 6 years with an annual return of 5%. In addition, investors receive fun rewards such as a tasting, gift voucher or an invitation to the annual crowdfunding event.
