Project ‘Ingelijst’ expresses gratitude to the hospitality industry in Rotterdam
Nine striking heads adorn beer bottles and pub walls. According to the beer brand Vedett, it is often the staff that makes the difference. That smile you get for free with your beer, the listening ear behind the bar and the good conversations between orders. After years of lockdowns and uncertainty, it is important to thank these indispensable people. Because they are here again. Because they exist. And because they make every day just that little bit better. Project ‘Ingelijst’ (Framed) is the name of a creative project that started last year in Utrecht and was created especially to put hospitality workers in the spotlight after the corona crisis. In collaboration with the beer brand Vedett, young illustrator Libra Telako immortalized nine people in Utrecht and now nine giants in the hospitality industry in Rotterdam with her colourful and striking style.

Project ‘Ingelijst’ by Vedett | Rotterdammers framed
This summer nine striking Rotterdam heads adorn the labels of the beer brand Vedett-bottles. Each of them people who make a difference in restaurants and cafés. Illustrator Libra Telako, 19 years old and a recent graduate, drew the portraits as she did earlier in Utrecht. This time she framed nine Rotterdammers. Her work can be seen on both the beer label and on plexiglass, as the series will be exhibited from June 27 to July 1 at Tech Noir where the opening will also take place on June 27. Owner Loran of Tech Noir was of course also captured. In addition to all the portraits, interviews with the hospitality workers can be read and there is a brief account of what drives and motivates them.
Enjoying the thank you from beer brand Vedett
Thomas, owner of restaurant Westkop in the heart of Rotterdam, is one of the people put in the spotlight: “The hospitality industry is my passion and my life, I have been working in the sector since I was eighteen and wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m at my best when things are running at full speed, so those lockdowns were a real shocker. Fortunately, we are now open again and I can enjoy the conviviality and social contact that make my profession so beautiful. It’s great that Vedett wants to thank the Rotterdam hospitality workers this way. And of course it’s great to see my head on a bottle. My 15 minutes of fame!”
