Poop Café | Toronto’s first toilet themed dessert bar
In 2016 the Poop Café, Toronto’s first toilet themed dessert bar, opened in Korea Town Toronto at Bloor Street West. The potty-themed café, like its counterparts in Asia (for example you will find poop café’s also in Seoul), will server desserts themed around the dirty deed.

At the Poop Café on Bloor Street, owner Lien Nguyen serves derriere-delicatessen like chocolate ice cream, Taiwanese ice cream, Hong Kong waffles, freakshakes, pudding and other brown treats. They also serve coffee cups shaped in a toilet! Customers will sit on fake toilets and eat out of toilet- and uniral-shaped dishes. The emoji of poop is everywhere, on the menu, as decoration, in the logo and at their social media.
Poop Café worldwide
Last year Ddong Café opened in Seoul, South Korea. Ddong can be translated as poop and must be, according to articles we have read, a symbol of fortune and good luck in Korea. In Taiwan, they have the Modern Toilet Restaurant with multiple restaurants, where you can even buy poop souvenirs! The difference with the Asian equivalent is that they will only be serving doo-doo desserts in Toronto and no other foods.
When we started with horecatrends back in 2007, we often showed examples from weird restaurants, like The Clinic restaurant in Singapore (closed in the meantime) where you were treated like a patient. Just google for weird restaurants and you’ll find a couple of lists!
It’s kind of surprising to us that a restaurant with a theme like this, is as popular as the Poop Café in Toronto. But surprisingly it is! We love to receive picture of Dutchies on the toilet seats when traveling to Toronto this summer!
