Panja Paloma | Waterkant and Brewery ‘t IJ created a refreshing summer beer cocktail
This summer, Brewery ‘t IJ and Waterkant are jointly launching a new and surprising beer cocktail in a sexy can called: Panja Paloma. The inspiration for this new drink was found in the popular paloma cocktail, an effervescent Mexican long drink cocktail with tequila and grapefruit. This cocktail combined with Brouwerij ‘t IJ’s famous beer creates a refreshing summer treat. In short, a collaboration with a sunny edge between two Amsterdam icons. Panja Paloma is now available at the Waterkant and is preferably drunk on a warm summer’s day.

How Amsterdam’s beer cocktail Panja Paloma was conceived
The Paloma cocktail has been part of Waterkant’s cocktail menu for some time now, at the request of guests it was sometimes combined with beer. “And it tasted pretty damn good!” says Brian Fernandes, owner of Waterkant. “So good in fact, that we contacted our friends at Brouwerij ‘t IJ and they were also immediately enthusiastic about this new combination. Within just a few weeks, the brewers came back with a unique recipe and so the sexy beer cocktail called Panja Paloma was born. Finally, to complete the smooth and particularly refreshing recipe, and to stay close to home, the Amsterdam tequila brand; Técan was added to the mix.
If cans could blush
Terrace fashion is on another level, so not only the recipe needed to be perfect but the can needs to be stylish too. Illustrator Nawwin Huizinga, who likes to be inspired by nature and the quirks of life, had the honour of designing the Panja Paloma can. The result is an illustriously colourful Panja pigeon, ‘panja’ is Surinamese for ‘being under the influence’. The collaboration proved to be a perfect match, as Nawwin’s design instantly makes the cheerful Panja Panoma can dance. After Amsterdam’s favourite IJwit, this is the second beer that Brouwerij ‘t IJ presents in a can. For this product it’s the best choice, especially as light has no chance.
Panja Paloma is now available at Waterkant and at selected bars and restaurants in Amsterdam.
