To this date many (inter)national Loetje fans have already enjoyed the famous Loetje steaks in Amsterdam and surroundings. Steaks ‘swimming’ in a lot of gravy which you can eat with a piece of bread. Last week Dutch stylist Fred van Leer and chef Bob Groen cooked the first steak at Loetje Rotterdam in its famous butter: Blue Band.

On Easter Sunday there will be a massive search for giant Easter eggs in Voorschoten (a city in the west of the Netherlands). The Easter Bunny will hide 15 eggs containing dinner vouchers of € 50,=. These can be spent at Restaurant Hudson which opens later this year in Voorschoten. With this fun Easter egg seach, the owners of the new restaurant wants to familiarize those living in Voorschoten with the hospitable nature of Restaurant Hudson.

Mr Fogg’s arrived in Mayfair, London in the summer of 2013. A recreation of the actual home of Jules Verne’s most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg. Modelled on the very Mayfair house, the bar is refined but at the same time truly off-the-wall, breathing liveliness and fun into the West End. Guests are able to encounter all the wonders of the world without setting foot outside of London. Mr Fogg’s home is well-hidden down a small side street off Berkeley Square thus maintaining an element of secrecy.

Last week Dominique Ansel Bakery’s second location inside the Mitsukoshi Ginza department store opened in Tokyo. To highlight the opening, Dominique and his Japanese team created the ‘zero gravity’ cake, cake that floats inside a balloon.

A new phenomonem is on our way, shared dining at long tables! Ingredients? Of course a long table with a long table mat, a huge pan with food (lots of food!), lots of guests and great music. And then? All guests are sitting at the table, glasses are filled and the food is placed on the table. Not on plates, but on table mats that are placed in the middle of the table. During the ultimate seafood feast everybody can eat what they want whilst enjoying a good conversation with good wine.

That’s possible, the last couple of years we spotted many examples of special themed hotel rooms. We created a list of examples of beautiful and special hotel rooms. Some examples from the Netherlands, like sleeping in a Van Gogh painting, at the Pier of Scheveningen, in a suite with blow ups of etchings by Rembrandt, in a crane or an airplane. Caffè Torino | First pop up Negroni bar in Belgium

Last week the first pop-up Negroni bar in Antwerp, Belgium opened. From the 30th of March until the 23th of April, you can enjoy this cocktail that consists of gin, vermouth and Campari in Martini Caffè Torino. Caffè Torino, previously opened the first pop-up vermoutbar in Belgium at the Oude Beestenmarkt in Ghent. They will only serve Negroni’s at this pop-up bar.

Van Vollenhoven’s beer brewery ‘De Gekroonde Valk’ used to be the biggest brewery in the Netherlands. Last month, Van Vollenhoven’s’ successor opened in Amsterdam: brewery and tasting room Poesiat & Kater. The traditional and historic beers from Van Vollenhoven will be served here as well as a selection of Poesiat & Kater’s own developed beers. The food on the menu is tailored to the beers which makes it an interesting place for those who love beer and food-combinations, a small ‘Beer&Bite’ tasting is also a fun option.

vandeStreek beer brewed the first alcohol-free IPA in the Netherlands. Nowadays, a lot of people love to drink alcohol-free beer (last year we consumed a whopping 18% more of alcohol-free beer in the Netherlands), but a real good and tasty alcohol-free IPA we haven’t seen yet. From now onwards, you can drink an alcohol-free IPA and drive or go the gym. The brewery is working at their Playground beer series and the IPA is one of them. It’s a limited edition, once the beer gets successful more will be brewed.

On this special, custom-made, foil-wrapped table guests can enjoy a big portion of fries with sauce. The first ever ‘bikkeltable’ was introduced last Friday at Lunchroom Kruimeltje in the Dutch city Krimpen a/d IJssel, the city where the recipe of the Bikkelsauce was born.
4D-cinemas | Watching movies will become more exciting

Recently two 4D-cinemas opened in France and Norway. Watching movies at these cinemas will become even more exciting. During the movie, physical effects will be synchronized with the movie. In the Netherlands we currently have two small 4D-cinemas. There’s one at amusement park the ‘Efteling’ and chances are you’ve watched a 4D-movie in ‘Dolfinarium’ (Europe’s largest marine mammal park).
