Great Scotland Yard hotel | Announced a ‘Grand Unlocking’ this September

The Great Scotland Yard hotel, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is one of London’s top 5* hotels and has announced plans to reopen with a ‘Grand Unlocking’ on Monday 7th September. The hotel is located in Westminster. The re-opening of the hotel will coincide with the launch of a new seasonal snack menu alongside its signature cocktail menu at The 40 Elephants, the destination bar in the heart of the hotel, which will be open to both guests and the public throughout the week.

BUNK hotel Amsterdam |A new hotspot in the former Sint-Rita church

After the booming success in Utrecht, Amsterdam now also gets a BUNK Hotel. BUNK opened its doors on the 5^th of March in the former Sint-Rita church in Amsterdam North. After a thorough renovation, the monumental building has room for 300 guests. Is it a hotel with hostel prices? Or a hostel with the quality and service of a hotel? Last Tuesday, the 3^rd of March, I was present at a dinner at the BUNK hotel. You are already impressed upon arrival by the transformation of this large church into a hotel. Great to see the BUNK pods but also the 107 compact rooms in the belly of the church, a separate concept. From April onwards you can and go sleep there, I believe this is a special and pleasant experience in Amsterdam. The Rooftop Winter Cinema at the Berkeley Hotel in London

Overlooking the rooftops of Belgravia and Knightsbridge, and with sweeping views of Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland, The Berkeley’s rooftop garden will once again transform into a twinkling festive forest cinema. Guests will snuggle into wooden huts laden with blankets to watch Christmas classics on the big screen whilst warming up with a menu of alpine and winter favourites and flowing Laurent-Perrier champagne for a touch of extra sparkle.  Screenings of festive favourites like ‘Home Alone’ and ‘The Holiday’ at the Rooftop Winter Cinema will take place from 15th November ~ 31st December 2019. Reservations will open today, November 4.

Great idea for other hotels with rooftops in the holiday season! Even cinemas could work together with restaurants to surprise their guests with the combination of watching a great ‘holiday season’ movie while enjoying a great meal.

Intercontinental Lyon – Grand Hôtel Dieu | From hospital to luxurious hotel

The recent opening of InterContinental® Lyon – Grand Hôtel Dieu comes after an extensive four-year restoration of one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the former hospital (‘Hôtel Dieu’). The renovation of the Grand Hôtel Dieu complex is the largest private transformation of a historic monument carried out in France to date. The interior designer, Jean-Philippe Nuel focused on maintaining the original beauty and architecture of the building whilst offering a contemporary, understated luxury design which is rooted in the history of Lyon and the building itself. They have a great promotion; of course there are quite a few inhabitants of Lyon who were born in this hospital, they get a glass of champagne if they make a reservation at restaurant Epona in the week of their birthday or two cocktails in bar ‘Le Dôme’, this under the name of ‘ Born at the Grand Hôtel Dieu ‘.

Special hotel for an overnight stay during the drive to the south of France or Spain. Lyon is a beautiful city and you can eat delicious local dishes in this culinary city!
