During the day a grocery, in the evening a bar. Super Mari, located in Vienna, is in the early hours of the day an Italian grocery and sells Italian products, ranging from coffee, pasta to canned specialties. In the late afternoon and evening the space transforms into a bar where guests can have an appetizer. Super Mari is designed by Lukas Galehr of architecture MadameMorh. The entire interior is made of white and black tiles. In the evening the panels can be rolled down so the shelves with products are hidden.

Inspiration from NYFW 2014

11-2-2014

We all know that Fashion Weeks are concentrated around fashion shows and after party’s but this year Marc Jacobs took the opportunity to do another type of stunt!

After all the talk of alternative payment methods like Bitcoin recently, he decided to open a pop-up tweetshop, a store where you pay with social media posts, a brilliant idea to promote his fragrance Daisy. In essence this store was more about the experience than the shopping, being located in beautiful bright loft in Soho, the brand organized a set of activities. One was a photo-booth style field of daisies, where you could take daisy #selfies. When uploaded with #MJDaisyChain to Instagram or Twitter you could win great prizes with the messages, such as bags, full bottles of daisy, sunglasses and other gadgets. Other than the daisy-field booth there was also a cart with a coffeemachine and baristas making fresh coffee, ladies who were giving free manicures with Marc Jacobs nail polishes and lot’s of daisy art and daisies. A dj made the atmosphere even a bit more exciting and the “fabulous” NYFW visitors were having a ball. One simple tweet with the hashtag #MJDaisyChain earned you a small daisy roller and for the larger prizes your post had to be chosen. All together, a rather briljant concept and you bet that the # was trending during the opening days! ^Leonie van Spronsen

Sweet delights served by the meter from the Pastry Library

If you are on a vacation in Dubai, want to dine out and love desserts, you should definitely eat at restaurant Stay at The Palm (One&Only resort). They have a menu that’s inspired by the French chef Yannick Alléno (three Michelin stars since 2007). By handing over the menus the waiter already warns you to leave some space for the dessert! And we must say that our meter desserts, prepared by Chef Kevin Lacote based on our tastes, was great! The method of serving is beautiful, a kind of ‘dessert wave’. Guests can also make a selection of friandises from the library, which will be served with your coffee.  ^Marjolein

Pop up store with 22 creative entrepreneurs

21-1-2014

In the Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam citizens joined forces to make the shopping street more vivid with pop-up stores. The latest achievement is the ‘Geef om de Jan Eef’ pop-up store where 22 entrepreneurs and artists host a 400m2 shop together. Doing this, they can be part-time entrepreneur and can run the shop in shifts. The product range includes goat-wool t-shirts, art, vegan wines, fashion, bikes (of course, it’s Amsterdam) and there is also a coffee corner by ‘Cup of Jo’. The combination of the various concepts enhances the reach of the shop and makes it a vivid meeting place for creatives from the area. The pop-up shops make the neighbourhood more interesting for other entrepreneurs. The street becomes a place where startups can develop in a steady pace and perhaps open a permanent shop in the future.

Pravda Pressroom opened a pop-up coffee and cocktailbar ‘L’Orangerie’ in the old ‘orangerie’ near the Harmoniegebouw in Antwerp to extend their communication activities. The bar will be open until the buildings are renovated. This will be at the end of 2015 or later. The building got a modern facelift to recover from the esthetic demolition in the eighties and is decorated with chic and shabby elements. The safety net prevents ancient plaster from falling on visitors and the small covered terrace is waiting for Spring to come in. L’Orangerie presents itself a a low energy bar, background music and dimmed lights invite for a proper glass and nice conversation. For this glass mostly cocktails are suggested.
