Blue cheese and chocolate | A divine combination

Last week Betty Koster was cited in an article on NU.nl about the combination of blue cheese and chocolate. “Cheese and chocolate are a great combination” she said. By reading the article my thoughts took me back to the theory of cooking I had at the hotel school. Every week we got to see the serie Kitchen Chemistry by Heston Blumenthal. One of the episodes was entirely devoted to chocolate. How it is made and why it melts more quickly when it is not tempered? All these questions were answered in the episode about chocolate. read more

This week, the first edition of the Amsterdam Cocktail Week started and a ‘must see’ is the Tunes Bar at the Conservatorium Hotel. Last week they launched Tunes Around The World, a tantalizing trip around the world in eleven exciting cocktail & foodpairings. The plans from Bar Manager Tim Hoevenagel and Chef Schilo van Coevorden are ambitious: Tunes should be a destination bar for all cocktails. read more

Café X | The first robotic café in the United States

Located in downtown San Francisco’s Metreon shopping center, Café X Technologies has launched its first robotic café in January. Working closely with local coffee roaster partners, Cafe X can consistently serve its customers in seconds with a focus on delivering beverages that taste exactly how the coffee roaster intended. Underwater restaurant The Pearl | Dive to your dinner

One of the first underwater restaurant where you actually have to dive to. So if you enjoy dining out and love to dive, The Pearl in dive center Nemo33 in Brussels is where you have to be. We have seen a couple of underwater restaurant and hotel locations but somehow this made us think of the ‘Genussgondel in the ski area Serfaus, Fiss, Ladis’. Back in 2009 we wrote about their smallest restaurant in the world in a gondola. Well The Pearl has the same capacity. read more
