Starbucks Refreshers

Starbucks announced during it’s annual meeting in Seattle, to roll out Starbucks Refreshers. The new line of natural, carbonated drinks consist of fruit juice, anti-oxidants, and unroasted, green coffee extract for an energy boost (without the taste of coffee). The energy drinks are available in the flavours Raspberry Pomegranate, Orange Melon and Strawberry Lemonade. We are curious when this energy drinks will be served in restaurants!

New style Starbucks in Amsterdam

Designer Liz Müller designed together with a team of local artists the new Starbucks in Amsterdam. The Starbucks is furnished with oak furniture, antique Delfts tiles and the wall consists of recycled inner tubes of old bicycle tires. The ceiling consists of over 1800 carved blocks. Starbucks will be opened this Friday in Amsterdam.

Starbucks opened their first ‘ski-thru’ in Squaw Valley California. Coffee lovers can now enjoy a cup of coffee on top of the slope at a height of 2400 meters. They also opened a seating area for the less fanatical skiers. Watch the video!

Starbucks opens coffee shop made from shipping containers

Starbucks recycled shipping containers to a Starbucks coffee shop in Tukwila, Washington. Starbucks used in total four shipping containers to build the coffee shop, it is decorated in the style that people would expect from Starbucks. The coffee shop is a initiative from Starbucks to stimulate the use of green buildings and environmental design in the retail. Another keen example of container upcycling.

 

Starbucks launced augmented reality app

Starbucks is launching its first major augmented reality app this holiday season that will let customers animate their coffee cups with their smartphones. Using the smartphone, one is able to make the red Starbuck cups come alive. There are multiple characters that can be found and this can be shared on Facebook. The application is available from 15 November on the App Store and the Android Market.

To launch the “My Starbucks Rewards” program, Starbucks has unveiled four new interactive storefronts in Toronto and Vancouver. In cooperation with The Media Merchants they placed monitors in the storefront where guests discover the rewards by touching the golden stars in an animated interface throughout the display. Starbucks has invited designers to make coffee-inspired t-shirts in celebration of their 40th anniversary. The designs are inspired by coffee and made by Alexander Wang, Billy Reid and Sophie Theallet. So a shirt with a coffee stain might be a top notch design item in the future.

Starbucks and Lady Gaga introduced an online Scavenger Hunt, a search game. Every week contesters have to find a clue. Last weeks assignment: to be found with QR codes on posters inside the Starbucks shops. This weeks challenge has to do with the new Lady Gaga album. The purpose of the game is to let people use the social media and collaborate in finding the solutions. The winner gets Lady Gaga related presents.
