The city of Rotterdam has recently received the innovation award for public services for the project ‘Verlaatje by SMS’. This project gives clubowners the ability to quickly and easily request exemption from the curfew via textmessages. Businessowners may request to their company to keep open until 06:00 ten times a year via textmessages, instead of a written permision two weeks in advance.

‘Relay Rides’ calls itself as the first company which offers “person-to-person car-sharing offers. The website allows people with cars to earn money by lending it to other people. Car owners may register through the website, then a mechanic will install a chip so that tenants can easily borrow the car keys without having to ask. Through the website, the carowner can publish what days and at what times tha car can be rented.

Ikea has found a very clever way to publishe their new catalog. In a number of cinemas promotion teams projected the names and prices of IKEA products on screen. This happened two or three times in each movie, next to George Clooney and Cynthia Nixon (SATC). During the credits there was a referral to the IKEA catalog, which was also distributed afterwards.

It’s expected that the world will change drastically in the future because of high waters. Architecture will therefore adapt to more sustainable, eco-friendly and will have more focus on saving energy. There may be green walls and floating buildings within futuristic designs.
