Have you also noticed? When visiting bars it’s always the choice; fun, relaxed atmosphere and simple drinks or fancy location and great drinks. Annoying! That’s exactly what the owners of the new bar Sweetwater Social in New York thought too and they decided to offer an alternative. The bar is located in a basement, has a cool but relaxed vibe and many bar games (darts, football table etc.) and is at the same time serving amazing cocktails! Another cool touch is that the cocktails are inspired by typical New York neighborhoods/subway stops. All in all a great new place in New York which I certainly hope will inspire more bars to have the same approach, fun & quality, who doesn’t want that?^Leonie van Spronsen

Swimming or clubbing in a ghost station in Paris

17-3-2014

Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, candidate of the French party ‘Union pour un Mouvement Populaire’ has commissioned a series of proposals of how the Ghost Stations in the center of Paris could be used. In collaboration with OXO architects and Laisné Architecte she made a number of designs on how to transform the vacant subterranean spaces. Their ideas vary from restaurants and nightclubs to a pool and even a theater. Paris has a total of 16 disused subway stations, most of which are closed between 1930 and 1970.

Eat fashion

For the pastry chefs among our followers: the International Culinary Center literally takes a bite out of fashion! To promote the New York Fashion Week the International Culinary Center has made an exact copy of a Coco Chanel purse out of chocolate! In the video above, the model suddenly begins to eat her purse in the middle of a subway.

No ordinary park bench in New York

3-7-2013

New York has many parks, where New Yorkers enjoy some time to relax after the working day and rest on a bench. Aircraft company Virgin Atlantic has surprised the park-goers in a funny way! Virgin Atlantic placed a red bench in the middle of a street in New York to give the people a taste of what they could expect during a flight. Watch the video to see the reactions of the people. Let this inspire you and treat the people who are sitting on a bench in the neighborhood of your restaurant with a snack or a drink. Take some pictures and publish it on your website and Social Media. Earlier we saw that people in a subway in New York were surprised with a 6-course dinner.

Destination Shibuya Station in Milan

11-3-2013

Fastweb, the second largest network in Italy, wants 20% of the Italian population to enjoy fast Internet via fiber by the end of 2014. This guerrilla action is set to announce the introduction. To visualize the speed Fastweb has created a unique experience in Milan: a trip to Shibuya Station, Tokyo within one stop of a subway station. Fastweb transformed the station in detail, displays, kiosks, audio information in Japanese and a Japanese audience. By using QR codes the experience could be shared through social media. Perhaps an idea for restaurants, to convert a bus stop into a mini-restaurant for one day and spoil the travelers?

We saw this before in South Korea, where the supermarket chain Tesco developed a virtual shop at a subway station. The British online supermarket ‘Ocado’ created a shopping wall in a mall in the centre of London, where people can select their groceries by using their smarthphone and QR scanner. The groceries are directly ordered online and by the time they arrive at home, the groceries are delivered.

Inflatable marketing

Artist Joshua Allen Harris is very creative with plastic bags. By attaching prefabricated shapes on the ducts of a subway, he makes the most creative artwork.
