It’s the second year for this summer theatre and all performances will take place in the outdoor theatre of Kapellerput. Everything breathes wine at the Dormio Wijnhotel Valkenburg

Opening – The first wine bottles have been uncorked at Dormio Wijnhotel Valkenburg and the first hotel guests woke up in their private wine domain. Last weekend the themed hotel and restaurant on the Stationsstraat in Valkenburg opened its doors for the first time. The former family hotel Tummers has undergone a metamorphosis and has been transformed into a wine hotel. The new owner developed a unique concept for this in cooperation with South Limburg winemakers and international wine companies. The CEO of Dormio Resorts & Hotels, Roel de Boer describes it concisely as “everything here breathes wine”.

Over the past year the hotel has been through a major renovation to create a new environment that creates an intuitive and holistic experience with places for people to connect, be productive and feel part of a community. Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is currently undergoing a brand transformation at properties across the world, and Sheraton Amsterdam now showcases this new vision as one of the very first hotels in Europe.

On 16 March, we enjoyed a tour of the hotel – with fun details for meetings such as origami plane folding and binoculars in the suites for spotting planes. And we enjoyed tasting some delicacies of what is served from Commune Restaurant, The Gate Bar & Stripes Restaurant. To celebrate the transformation of the hotel, Sheraton Amsterdam Airport created a special opening offer to experience the renovated Sheraton guestroom, including access to the Sheraton Club and a welcome drink in Commune.

Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam | The latest hotel developments

On March 16 and 17 you can get acquainted with the latest developments in the hotel industry during the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam. For example, you can see the following developments: a personal hologram that welcomes you in the lobby, recyclable bath slippers, bactericidal design wallpaper, but also a complete work-out station in the form of an interactive mirror for the hotel room.

The Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam takes place for the second time in RAI Amsterdam. The event, which has been organized in London since 2012, focuses among others on the independent hotelier from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In addition to London and Amsterdam, the Independent Hotel Show will also be held in Miami this year. During the event, the corona measures in force at that time will be observed.
