Almere City Centre has a special new address, Strand22 has recently opened on Esplanade 14. The beach at the Esplanade will open on March 9. At Strand22, guests can already enjoy a delicious drink or dinner with a phenomenal view from inside. Now that the weather is getting better and with plenty of sun forecasted in the coming days, the large terrace is also open. This spring and summer it is the ideal place for an evening of cocktails or a night out.
Almere is a city in the Dutch province Flevoland. It is a drive of approximately 30 minutes from Amsterdam. The city is surrounded by waters such as Gooimeer, IJmeer and Markermeer. A perfect place for a city beach.

And in the field of sustainability, we came across the Norwegian material science company B’ZEOS. They are working with international companies to replace single-use plastics with seaweed-based alternatives.

New flagship store for The Avocado Show in the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands

The founders of the beloved restaurant The Avocado Show, Julien Zaal and Ron Simpson will open a new format of their fast-growing chain on Saturday 12 March. Centrally located between The Hague and Leiden, the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands is the ideal place for the first Dutch branch of The Avocado Show outside of Amsterdam.
Designed in collaboration with their permanent creative team at Aces of Space, this new version of The Avocado Show with 80 seats and a surface area of 190m2 has the appearance of a colorful patio. The guests sit under natural light and are surrounded by many green-pink color accents; the well-known setting of The Avocado Show. Original dishes are served, in their signature style, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Think of the now world famous poke bowl, stacked pancakes, an avocado smashed burger and even cocktails, where the avocado seeds are used as ice cubes.

SavorEat | Personalized plant-based 3D printed hamburgers made by a chef robot

An ordering app as your waiter and a robot as your chef! More and more examples of these two items are spotted worldwide. The app is common use now and robots are spotted in restaurants as well. They’re an asset at the moment you can’t find enough staff. But we now spotted an Israeli foodtech firm SavorEat that combines it all. Customers order their personalized plant-based hamburger through an app and their robot will 3D print it and cook it to their preferences.
The robot chef of SavorEat is a technological solution to digitally manufacture meat alternatives from non-GMO plant-based proteins, according to individual tastes. They focus on consumer’s needs and are putting the individual front and center. This approach puts the company in the new future of the Food Industry while offering solutions for fast-moving kitchens. The robot chef has been unveiled in collaboration with the Israeli hamburger chain BBB (Burgus Burger Bar). They also connected with Sodexho, which feeds students at major US universities, to start trial the system this year.

As of September 1, 2021, he reopened the doors under the name Brasserie Poelzicht. After various lockdowns due to corona between November 2021 and February 2022, the entrepreneur can now finally fully open its doors. Unique in the region is the French bistro cuisine combined with strictly French wines.
The Betuwe in the middle of the Netherlands is great region for cycling and since I am part of the ‘cycling gray brigade’, I would love to go there for lunch or dinner during or after a bike ride. The French bistro dishes sound delicious! ^Marjolein

Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley opens on Valentine’s Day

We already spotted the date of opening on Instagram last week and mentioned it in our ‘Trends we spotted week 5’, but it’s now official, on Monday 14th February 2022, one of the world’s best pastry chefs will open the doors to his first patisserie outside of France, Cédric Grolet at The Berkeley.
From Valentine’s Day at 8am, the chef’s world renowned creations will be available to takeaway, including Grolet’s famous trompe-l’œil, fruit and flower cakes. The patisserie – which is almost lab-like in its aestehetic with touches of gold and is designed by renowned interior designer Remi Tessier – has a central focal point: The Chef’s Counter which will host a globally exclusive dining experience inside the lab, set to wow Londoners and beyond.

The successful vega(n) restaurant Rozey, with locations in Rotterdam and Delft, opens its third location in Amersfoort.
