Flagshipstore Delice Delikatessen in The Hague

International gourmet food retailer ‘Delice Delikatessen’ has opened a flagshipstore in shopping mall New Babylon The Hague. Delice Delikatessen has a range of over 700 selected products from Europe with their own story, such as a 100-year old in different wood barrels aged balsamic or a truffle paste. Besides the wide range of products the flagshipstore has also a petit café and organizes various tastings. The flagshipstore has an authentic kitchen design. Last year Delice Delikatessen was nominated for the Global RLI Awards in London in the category: Rising Star.

Green Bowl in The Hague is a new “healthy fast food express” concept: an affordable and healthy takeaway with 18 seats. The founders are Soontat Yeung and his wife Liting Leow. Escpecially the ‘create-your-own salad small’ (€ 4.50) is a big hit. Visitors can choose from spinach, mixed lettuce or romaine lettuce and as filling red and white quinoa, puy lentils, potatoes and whole grain spelled pasta are available (hot steamed on request). These are accompanied with unlimited toppings from the salad bar (vegetables, fruit, cheese and nuts) and different gluten, dairy and nut free dressing. Premium toppings like smoked chicken are optional. Next to the salads different Froojiez, healthy fruit juices, are served which are prepared on the spot and wraps are served as well.

Accessibility of restaurants in The Hague

To measure the hospitality of restaurant in The Hague for people with disabilities ‘Voorall’ has launched a contest. For people with disabilities its often the question if they can enter the restaurant with wheelchair, if the guide dog is welcome and if the dishes fit into their diets. With the contest ‘meNU Ongehinderd’ people with or without disabilities can select a restaurant in The Hague and give their opinion. Information about the accessibility of these restaurants will be added to the app ‘Ongehinderd’, which ‘Voorall’ and The Hague has launched in March.

Opening Marks and Spencer Food hall The Hague

The first Marks & Spencer Food hall in the Netherlands opens its doors in The Hague today. The Food hall is approximately 750 m2, the warehouse is with 6.000m2 the largest international store of Marks & Spencer. The Food hall focuses on the Dutch market with limited proportion of pre-packed vegetables and meat specialties. Alternating with Dutch and English favorites like fresh bread, cheese and biscuits. There is a wide range of convenience food ‘for now’ and ‘food later’. Previously, Marks & Spencer opened a shop at a BP gas station in September 2013.

Driving restaurant through The Hague

A driving tram through the city of The Hague and during the trip a high-quality four-course dinner while passing the highlights of the city. Around February 2014 this will be possible in tram restaurant Hoftramm. The driving tram will be transformed into a modern and elegant restaurant and has all amenities including a kitchen, bar and toilets. Tram restaurant Hoftrammm will be a route through the center of The Hague six days a week and the guests will get served a four-course dinner with a matching beverage package. To achieve the tram restaurant there is currently a crowdfunding campaign.

Today the new bar Spark The Hague opens its doors. The bar is part of the Hilton Hotel The Hague, but has its own entrance and address. The trendy bar is a location to relax with night entertainment like Funky Jazz Live, Ladies First and Sparks & Bubbles. At the Spark The Hague you can enjoy quality cocktails, wines and champagnes supplemented with Asian finger food and international snacks. The cocktails are made by bartenders Michael-John Straatmand and David van Panhuys who have a broad knowledge of cocktails and wines.

International Club The Hague

On Saturday November 17, International Club The Hague will open her doors officially. This is an informal social club for expats, and the family and friends of these internationals in The Hague, located in the former city hall at the Javastraat. International Club The Hague features a restaurant, including a chef’s table, a bar, a wine cellar, tv room, smoker’s lounge, library and a children’s room. Bouzy, Wine & Food opened at the Denneweg in The Hague. The wine & bites bar was founded by Martijn Verbruggen and Stefan Verleer and is a place where wine lovers will feel at home.

Co-owner Martijn Verbruggen: “Bouzy is an accessible place with a tough but warm vintage look and natural light from the many windows. The wines are the heart of Bouzy, we have over 100 wines, including 25 open wines of which several champagnes. We serve wines that we get from wine specialist suppliers who share their gems for us. In addition, we import champagnes from small producers ourselves via our company G-Bubbles.”

The name Bouzy

“Bouzy is named after the French Grand Cru area ‘Bouzy’, which is known as one of the best terroirs of Champagne. Next to the wines Martijn and Stefan serve snacks and bistro-style dishes like bruschetta, flammkuchen, bites of fish and meat, charcuterie, salads, cheese, desserts and coq au vin.”

Wine events

Bouzy will be a place where special wine events take place. Recently Lucas Payà was at the restaurant to present the new innovative wine system Coravin of catering professionals. He was sommelier at the former Spanish three-star restaurant elBulli for five years.

Martijn Verbruggen (34) worked as a master-sommelier in (star) restaurants as Savelberg, Seinpost and Catch by Simonis. Stefan Verleer (34) worked as a manager and maître-sommelier at restaurants Zoute Zoen and South of Houston.

Opening hours

Bouzy, Wine & Food is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 to 23:00 o’clock. Next to the regular opening days there will be regularly activities on Sundays.
