Marketing agency Natwerk used a copy machine to get funny faces of visitors at Lowlands festival. The prints were used as wall paper and put on Facebook, where guests could vote on the most funny photos until the 31st of August.

The Cocoa Beach team of DoubleTree Cocoa Beach Oceanfront asked one of its guests what brought him to the area. He mentioned that he took his son on a trip to the Kennedy Space Center and wanted to go surfing with him in the Atlantic Ocean for his 4th birthday. The team made a gift bag for the 4-year old and his father that consisted out of a gift bag, boogie board, banner, cupcakes and a birthday card.

Starbucks makes laundry detergent out of coffee grounds

Starbucks works together with biorefinery scientists to transform food waste into key ingredients for laundry detergent, plastics and other everyday products. The coffee makers announced this at the 244th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society’. As mentioned before Starbucks was already involved in local projects before like the use of coffee grounds for growing mushrooms.

In The Netherlands we have a lot of snackbars (kind of Chips shops), a famous snackbar in Rotterdam, Bram Ladage, organizes a ‘get familiar with the origine of your fries’ day on the 8th of September. Anyone interested can join his team at a potatoe farm in Numansdorp to lift some potatoes. These potatoes are processed into chips on the spot. Bram Ladage also auctions the first crate new harvest potatoes, the revenue of this crate goes to the Sophia Childrenhospital in Rotterdam. And some golden potatoes are hidden in the field for extra prizes.

At the historical park of Kfar Kedem in northern Israel, visitors can experience how the area felt in biblical times with 99% accuracy. With guides decked out in biblical robes and headdresses, tourists can experience the holy land of the Old Testament by riding donkeys through the world famous hills of Galilee. The park now provides social media and email— via a device around the donkey’s neck. The device, which looks as if it is a feedbag, is actually a Wi-Fi router, allowing guests to instantly share instagrams of their donkey-riding experience.

Family-friendly restaurant chain Applebee’s plans to bring nightlife to suburbia by reinventing itself as an after-hours entertainment destination, offering half-priced appetizers, drink specials, dance music, girl’s night out and karaoke after 10pm. While most of Applebee’s locations close at 10 p.m., locations in Central Florida already stay open (with strobe lights and all) until 2am under the moniker ‘Club Applebee’s.’

Chosen as restaurant of the year 2012 in Finland, Muru will bring its unique atmosphere, delicious food and excellent staff to Tytyri for two weeks. Down-to-earth food will be on offer in Muru’s signature style, in the spirit of a “mining canteen”.
