Smullies Maastricht | Trendy patisserie shop and ice cream parlour

Since 10 March 2022, Maastricht has been home to a trendy and special patisserie shop and ice cream parlour. Servais Tielman of Michelin-starred restaurant Beluga Loves You and his partners opened ‘Smullies Maastricht’, a unique and trendy shop with unique ice cream flavours, exceptional patisserie, smoothies, milkshakes and coffee. Smullies is located at Frankenstraat 198 and has a striking interior in pastel pink colours and gold. In May 2022 the second branch will open in the new Foodchurch in the Boschstraat in Maastricht.

A trendy new address to go to when you go to the most touristic city in the south of the Netherlands, Maastricht! Here you can enjoy a cup of slow roast coffee with a Big Boy Macaron from the Michelin-starred restaurant Beluga Loves You or an éclair or madeleines or….. Or ‘just’ an ice cream: the pink ruby chocolate ice cream with raspberry and rose water sounds delicious, right?

Come 2025, the way Parisians commute will change with the launch of Câble 1, Paris‘ first urban cable car. The new 4.5-kilometer line will connect suburbs in the city’s southeast to the Metro system. And a link to great images of the high-end breakfast all day concept in Berlin: Frühstück 3000.

Starbucks and Volvo will build an EV charging network from the Colorado Rockies to their Support Center in Seattle. And Portland in Oregon will get the first sports bar dedicated to women’s games: The Sports Bra.

While in America and England the date for the annual Pancake Day coincides with Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday after Carnival, the evening before fasting starts) and Shrove Day, we here in the Netherlands celebrate our National Pancake Day on March 18 2022. Because the dates differ, owners of pancake restaurants can use inspiration from the pancake days in England and the USA! Our colleague Jesse Oldenburg has created a list of inspiring promotions and tasty pancake recipes! Being able to get a pizza from a vending machine 24/7: Resto’Clock currently installs about 30 vending machines per month in France and Belgium. We also came across BistroBox in Austria where you can pull a pizza from the machine within 2 minutes.

The #KentuckyFriedGivingChallenge in America is a good example of involving young guests in ‘a good cause’ via TIKTOK®. And in the field of sustainability, we came across the Norwegian material science company B’ZEOS. They are working with international companies to replace single-use plastics with seaweed-based alternatives.

Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam | The latest hotel developments

On March 16 and 17 you can get acquainted with the latest developments in the hotel industry during the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam. For example, you can see the following developments: a personal hologram that welcomes you in the lobby, recyclable bath slippers, bactericidal design wallpaper, but also a complete work-out station in the form of an interactive mirror for the hotel room.

The Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam takes place for the second time in RAI Amsterdam. The event, which has been organized in London since 2012, focuses among others on the independent hotelier from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In addition to London and Amsterdam, the Independent Hotel Show will also be held in Miami this year. During the event, the corona measures in force at that time will be observed. Vega(n) restaurant Rozey opens third location in Amersfoort

The successful vega(n) restaurant Rozey, with locations in Rotterdam and Delft, opens its third location in Amersfoort. The residents of Amersfoort now also have the opportunity to enjoy 56 different luxury veggie and vegan dishes at restaurant Rozey. And that for a fixed, low price; during the week for €34.50 pp and at the weekend for €39.50 pp including drinks. Rozey Amersfoort is located in an industrial corner building with large windows, which allow a lot of light to enter and a beautiful view of the river Eem. In the summer it is good to relax on the terrace, where you can enjoy the sun and the boats sailing by. The restaurant has room for approximately 80 guests and will open its doors this week.
