The House of Rising is a bar in Amsterdam where you can eat, drink, network and be inspired. The ground floor is a bar next to a space reserved for exhibitions of artists. On the first floor one can buy exclusive clothes.
The American-review site Yelp launched on December 8 in The Netherlands. They do start with only reviews from the Amsterdam area. People who do not live in Amsterdam can also write a review. Besides restaurants there are many other testimonials about: shopping, beauty and spa, hotels and travel, nightlife and local services.
Urban Green is an initiative of the Dutch interior designer Mark van der Geest and focuses on urban residents. Urban Green offers a wide range of flowers, plants and accessories for balconies. Urban Green is also developing projects as green roofs and vertical gardens to appertment buildings. Currently there are only stores in Amsterdam but Urban Green hopes to open in 15 stores in Dutch cities.
The Iamsterdam Card is now available as iPhone app. The app enables tourists to obtain information about attractions and immediately see where the I amsterdam Card gives discounts.
There are plans for a new 10-room, design hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. The owner of the hotel is “Droog Design”. After having opened stores in Tokyo, New York and Dubai, they now choose to open their own design hotel.
Trendy cocktailforks referring to the city on stilts: Amsterdam. The design shows four houses with typically traditional Amsterdam facades on a cocktail fork. The fork is made of durable stainless steel (metallic), and is hygienic and dishwasher safe.
Agency Media Republic created this advertisement for Samsung in collaboration with 2010 Amsterdam and JCDecaux. At a tram stop in Amsterdam, people can wait while virtually ski-jumping. The video is then sent to you by email.
In 2011 the Damrak will experience a make-over. A hotel, breakfast cafe and giftshop will have to achieve this. The names, The Exchange, Stock and Options indicate the presence of the Amsterdam Echange building. The project is an initiative of the Lloyd Hotel, Amsterdam Fashion Institute and NV Stadsgoed. This project should make the Damrak ‘the catwalk of the Netherlands’.
We spot fun, new concepts every day. This week, the artisan cheesecakes of the Cheesecake Project in Amsterdam, they created their own recipe for Basque style cheesecake. Massalia, a French-Greek restobar, which recently also opened in Amsterdam, where you can enjoy the influences of both French and Greek cuisine. And Surf & Turf, which opened its doors in Utrecht this September, where you can enjoy a refined selection of fish and dry-aged meats.
