In the first weeks of October ( week of the taste) children from Dordrecht (The Netherlands) will attempt to cook a total of 1000 liters of soup. The main idea of this event is to get the children more into contact with healthy, fair, eco friendly and self made food. The event will be held across Dordrecht in association with several schools. The alternative translation of the Dutch saying ‘Dordrecht walks in the soup’ is ‘it goes totally wrong in Dordrecht.’

The bloggers pick the first selection, the jury chooses one winner. The winner can visit all the Red Carpet moments for Moët and gets front row tickets for the film festival in Cannes on top of that.

De weirdest hotel room in the world is to be found at the Sala Silverminehotel in Sweden. Guests can sleep here 152 meter below the surface and the only way to get there is through the shaft. The hotel room cost €440,= euro per night, complete with a luxurious bed, silver furniture and champagne. Communication with the reception is only possible with an intercom, the temperature is a cozy 18 degrees due to a warm air bubble in the cave.

Haagen-Das will introduce an ice cream cake, developed by Dutch designer Kiki van Eijk. The cakes, Fleur de Glace, will be available in two flavours, Ice flower (Ijsbloem) and Sunflower (Zonnebloem). The Ice flower ice cream cake is made of vanilla ice cream, ‘speculoos’ (gingerbread) and caramel. The Sunflower is made of mango sorbet ice cream and macadamia nuts.

Every year the Evian water bottles come in a special design. After famous designers like Jean Paul Gaultier, Paul Smith and Issey Miyake, this years design is made by Courrèges. The limited edition bottle is made from recycled glass and has a pink flower made from biological inkt. The Evian water bottle is available middle october/november.

Kruyff has shared here experiences with the “pepernoten” online and started a revolution together with baker Brensen. After many trail and errors the “pepernoot” from the 18th century is finished. The “pepernoten” are now available at the website of baker Brentsen.

To help these farmers and other casualties of the hurricane, over 100 restaurants in New York have donated 10% of their day revenue last Sunday. These revenues were donated to a charity fund that helps casualties from the hurricane Irene.

Disney took the first step towards the hotel industry by opening Aulani Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, which is a hotel outside the theme parks. The hotel covers an area of 21 acres and features over 800 rooms. We saw this before in South Korea, where the supermarket chain Tesco developed a virtual shop at a subway station. The British online supermarket ‘Ocado’ created a shopping wall in a mall in the centre of London, where people can select their groceries by using their smarthphone and QR scanner. The groceries are directly ordered online and by the time they arrive at home, the groceries are delivered.

This week, Japanese restaurant Ichi-e (which means a meeting or rendez-vous) opened its doors officially at the Arena Boulevard in Amsterdam. The three-story building features a sushibar and take-away on the ground floor. The first floor features the Robota Grill restaurant, where guests can enjoy shared-dining grilled meals. On the top floor, the restaurant offers the Densha Lounge (which means ‘train’ in Japanese) where guests can order bite-size snacks. This lounge is as well suitable for meetings or other private (company) parties. Besides, Ichi-e offers as well sake-tastings where guests can taste different kinds of sake.
