Tilt, an international known graffiti artist, designed a hotelroom for The Au Veaux hotel in France. With help of his friends Tober, Grizz, and Don Cho he designed half of the room with graffiti. The other side of the room they left blank to emphasize the ‘chaos’. It took one week before the room was finished.
Bread made out of sea water

Dutch Baker Marcel Spelt made bread from Oosterscheldewater (estuary in the Netherlands). He introduced it at the “horecabeurs Goes”. “Bread of the Sea” tastes salty and contains 30% less salt than ordinary salted bread.
Bluetube Bar

The Bluetube Bar is designed by Portuguese architects office DOSE and is meant for temporary festivals in Portugal. The bar is made of blue tubes which gives a colorful effect.
Cup bookcase

This bookcase with the shape of cups is designed by Wood Curve. The cups are constructed to have depth, making it seem like they are cupped in eachother. The bookcase is for sale at Etsy.
McDonald’s Paris interactive cube

McDonalds placed a 5 meter high cube in the centre of Paris. People could shoot and upload pictures, with the funny result that people saw their heads on different bodies. Watch the video!

Sprinkles Cupcakes (worlds first cupcake bakery) is planning to open a cupcake machine in Beverly Hills. The machine provides fresh cupcakes with a choice of different cupcake mix and sprinkles 24-hours a day. The owner Candace Nelson also plans to open a Spinkles Ice Cream store.

Students in the Netherlands can ask their parents in a funny way out for dinner by sending an e-card of Culinairewinstpakker. The students can eat for free when they bring their parents. At the moment it’s only available for the four biggest student cities Delft, The Hague, Leiden and Rotterdam.

Too Good to Waste extends shelftime

The winner of the Battle of the Cheetahs on the first of March is the ‘Too Good to Waste’ team. The team stimulates food producers to use almost expired fruits and vegetables from supermarkets. Food producers use this ‘waste’ to make juices and soup and extend shelf time after the transformation. Supermarkets don’t have to pay for their waste and the food producers are provided with cheap resources. Both can profile themselves as waste friendly.

Snail farmer Aad Mostert and the famous croquettes maker Piet Laan developed a snail croquette. With the snail croquette they hope to eager the Dutch consumer. In a croquette of 30 grams one and a half snail is processed. Watch the video!
Sticker measures edibility

Scientist from the Tufts University (USA) designed a high-tech sticker that lets you know if the food is still edible. The sticker is edible itself and responds to chemical reactions in the product. The sticker can be scanned with a smartphone.

Food oasis in Seattle

In the Seattle neighborhood Beacon Hill, a food oasis will be created on three hectares. Chestnut and walnut trees , blueberry and raspberrybushes, apple, pear trees and more will be planted. The park is public and the fruits can be picked for free. It’s expected that the park will be built this summer.
Pizza company raises books for Colombia

Books for Colombia was a joint project between the Spanish airline Iberia, social network ideas4all and Telepizza in Spain. Residents of Madrid could donate books. Telepizza-deliverers carried the books in the empty space in their vehicles to the local Telepizza, from there they were sent via Iberia aircraft to Colombia, where NGO BuenaNota handled the distribution in to 120 libraries and schools throughout the country.

3-Star restaurant Oud Sluis (the Netherlands) led by Sergio Herman serves from now on special coffees. With the Antwerp espresso roaster La Marzocco Linea from the brand CaffèNation Dopio espresso, cappuccino and latte can be made. Benjamin de Buck, host of Oud Sluis, followed a special barista course how to use the machine.
Worlds tallest chef table

Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong hotel will soon have the world’s tallest chef table. On the 102nd floor of the hotel (420 meters above sea level) the Chef’s Table is set in a private dining room with an open kitchen. The table is available for up to eight guests and bookings must be made at least two weeks in advance.
