Dutch Design for Mercure Amsterdam North Station | Soft materials inspired by water
The hotel was designed by Charlotte Emmerig of Lotz design agency. Emmerig used the world-famous canals and the watery landscape north of Amsterdam as sources of inspiration and created a hotel where a cosy calm prevails. Pastel colours and soft and transparent materials are used throughout to inspire guests to go with the flow.
A new hotel in a new neighbourhood
Mercure Amsterdam is located in the up-and-coming and popular neighbourhood of Amsterdam North, with the Eye Filmmuseum, A’dam Lookout and the NDSM wharf just a short distance away. Gare du Nord is a new area where housing and schools are being realised. Mercure’s newest flagship has moved into a modern building right next to Noord metro station, the starting/ending point of the Noord/Zuidlijn (North/South metro line). This excellent connection puts the city centre within easy reach, as well as attractions such as RAI Amsterdam. The hotel is also close to various nature reserves in the north of the capital. Ideal for both international and national tourists and families.

Various Dutch products have been used in the design, from the wallpaper and the floors to the lighting in the 110 rooms. As we know that our guests are looking for a stay with local influences, we make sure that our staff can provide them with all the information about the hidden gems of Amsterdam that only an ‘Amsterdammer’ (the Dutch name for those living in the city) knows. We invite our guests to move with the flow of the day, enjoy every moment, embrace the city, relax and enjoy the calming design inspired by the fantastic location.”
