L’OUI created a limited edition for the winter | Barrel Aged Negroni
Artisanal, spicy and a tantalizing bitterness. The cocktail L’OUI is introducing this autumn fits right in with today’s trend: back to basics, but with a twist. From November 1st, the state-of-the-art bartender will pour a special Barrel Aged Negroni. To create the perfect flavour profile for this limited edition, L’OUI’s recipe developers travelled to Bordeaux. The result is a cocktail with a tough character, intense and distinctive due to its ageing in oak barrels. Romantic together in your favourite Grand Café with your friends at the bar or as a stylish aperitif – taste the Barrel Aged Negroni this autumn while stocks last.

Bourbon casks for the Barrel Aged Negroni
The Negroni had been enjoyed for some time when film personality Emma d’Arcy gave the classic an extra boost. She drank it with a twist. L’OUI’s answer to this autumn trend is the Barrel Aged Negroni, composed exclusively from hand-selected ingredients. With the master distillers at The Stillery, a fine, classic red Bordeaux wine, was specifically chosen to use to develop an intense vermouth for the cocktail. This is mixed with the in-house produced bitter herbal liqueur amaro and The Stillery’s Most Floral Gin before being aged for nine months in oak Bourbon barrels. This creation process gives the new L’OUI cocktail a spicier, less sweet taste than the regular Negroni. With deep notes of wood and a pleasantly bitter finish, it is a Barrel Aged Negroni as it was meant to be.
Special or permanent?
Daan Gijbels, co-founder of L’OUI, on the introduction of the Barrel Aged Negroni: “This new cocktail stems from our own hobby. We ourselves really like intense, deep flavours that surprise and are warm – especially now that it’s getting colder. This is also what we see in the cocktail scene, the use of different spices, artisanal bitters and herbal infusions. For now, the Barrel Aged Negroni is a special, which means you can only drink it temporarily. Purely to get through autumn. But actually, we hope this cocktail will be so well liked that it becomes a permanent fixture. As always at L’OUI, it’s a matter of putting a cocktail can in the L’OUI and pulling the lever. The perfect cocktail in record time, with a flavour we, at least, can’t get enough of.”
