Opening – On May 17, the new hotspot Lagerwal opened next to restaurant Helling 7 in Amsterdam Noord. Just three minutes by bike from the NDSM wharf, you will find a unique combination of a modern beer garden with one of Amsterdam’s largest terraces. Located by the water with breath-taking views over the city, visitors can enjoy sunsets, a large selection of locally brewed beers and small dishes on open fire in collaboration with Helling 7. The industrial and sustainably designed terrace also offers a varied cultural programme.

Enjoying art, music and drinks at Lagerwal
Lagerwal, a modern beer garden but also the place where art, music and drinks merge, where the ‘oatmilk elite’ and the ‘just-a-pilsner-for-me’ crowd meet. Where your hunger, big or small, is satisfied. A place where the Dutch ‘gezelligheid’ (conviviality) is the norm. The terrace offers plenty of cosy nooks and crannies overlooking impressive ships.
Lagerwal hosts a wide range of events. Think live music, comedy nights, movie nights, BBQ battles and mini festivals. Lagerwal likes to offer the experience where visitors are not only inspired by the surroundings, the people and the music, but where new artists and performers can also be discovered.
Easy going with a Mediterranean twist
The menu includes a wide selection of locally brewed beers, 15 of which are on tap. Visitors can also enjoy a delicious glass of rosé or a cocktail in the evening sun. At Lagerwal, the focus is on ‘easy going’ and shared dishes, a varied menu with a Mediterranean twist. In the open kitchen, many dishes are prepared on an open fire. Sustainability at Lagerwal is applied, among other things, by using local suppliers as much as possible. With a view to minimising food waste and circularity, it works closely with the neighbouring Helling 7, which shares the same sustainable core values and ambitions.
At Helling 7 and Lagerwal, circularity plays an important role
Founded by the same team as Helling 7, Lagerwal originates from the mission to create a lively meeting place in a sustainable way. In the development of this place, circularity has played an important role. For instance, the large terrace with indoor space was created using parts from the nearby Damen Shipyards and Lagerwal’s stage was built from a ship part that used to house a lifeboat. In this special place, Lagerwal created the raw and vibrant character of the rapidly developing Amsterdam Noord district accessible to all visitors from Amsterdam and its surroundings.
From May to September, Lagerwal is open to everyone every Friday to Sunday, including the indoor space that offers room for dancing until the late hours. On weekdays, Lagerwal is available as an event space for the business market.
Helling 7 previously participated in Dine on Water, for example.
