The motto of the Jarheads catering company from Mechelen in Belgium: ‘slow food, swiftly delivered’. They deliver healthy, organic meals in glass jars with recyclable cutlery. They started as a catering company but last summer they also opened a take-away / restaurant at the Lambermontplaats in Antwerp, where you can take away your jar or eat it.

Check out their Instagram for more pictures.
Social engagement at Jarheads
The concept reminded us of ‘The epicurian cantine Ancolie’ in New York, where entrepreneur Chloë also serves all dishes in glass jars because she wanted to serve her healthy food in a sustainable way. It’s a modern and sustainable method of delivering salads and food. Jarheads goes a little further on the social line, from all the left over ingredients they make soup that they donate to their charities, Dakant or vzw homeless help Antwerp. They work with a number of people from the target group as volunteer to help them towards social reintegration and thus to a real job situation.
