On American inspiration websites you can’t miss Halloween. Halloween is major in the US and slowly but surely more and more people in the Netherlands are celebrating it too! In our Dutch village it will be celebrated as well. The organization normally responsible for our King’s Day celebration will this year also organize a Halloween spooky tour along ‘haunted houses’ where the children get hot chocolate and can pick up ‘creepy’ candy. Such a fun night! How can you celebrate Halloween as a hospitality provider? Would you profit from a celebration and would your Dutch or European guests enjoy it? The last point is of course clear; it is fun and it always makes sense to positively surprise your guests, even if it is with a freshly baked ‘ghost’ cookie or a mini pumpkin of marzipan. To get in this spooky atmosphere before the actual holiday (31st of October), we have listed 13 bits of Halloween inspiration for you!  ^Marjolein

  1. Halloween inspiration on Pinterest | Black Lemonade, Bloody finger hot dogs and much more

Horecatrends has her own Pinterest page where we gather inspiration for the hospitality industry. For Halloween we have definitely found some inspiration too… check out our Halloween board with Rice Krispie pumpkins, Pizza Skulls, Pretzel Broomsticks and Black Lemonade.

In 2019 the companies Toast Ale, Hubbub and Brewdorg Tower Hill Outpost organized a #PumpkinRescueCampaign. On November 4th of that year they brewed the ‘’Dubbel Dubbel Toil and Trouble’’, a seasonal beer that tackles the food waste of pumpkins!

The inspiration of Bun House is also from 2019. In London you were able to buy beautiful limited edition pumpkin buns for a week at the end of October. Take a look at the photo!

You can easily make cocktails scary! You can make it extra spooky by using dry ice, at De Beren they even made a cocktail with mealworms and dried grasshoppers, a Pumpkin Spiced Disaronno Sour… How good does that sound? Bacardi gave us the recipe for the Bat Blood Mojito in 2018!

More and more hotels are also using Halloween decorations and food. Hotel America gives credit to their name and goes all the way with Halloween: guests can enjoy a terrifying stay from 28 until the 31st of October! From a dinner with bloody burgers and much more food items to a blood-curdling ‘ghost tour’ and a terrifying overnight stay in the hotel what will be completely transformed into a ghost hotel: The Haunted Hotel of Horror!

  1. Hidden Valley Created Treat-Sized Ranch Dressings for Halloween

This Halloween, trick-or-treaters may find their candy bags filled with bite-sized versions of chocolate bars or the treat-sized ranch packs developed by Hidden Valley. The treat-sized Hidden Valley Ranch packets help people to give out ranch dressing rather than candy, promising a “scary good surprise they’ll never forget.” The small ranch packets can be found in a festive bag decked out with a Jack-o-lantern. We think this is a well – not sweet and spooky – treat for the trick-or-treaters! If it make them happy?

World-renowned chocolate maker The Hershey Co. has unveiled its new line of Halloween-themed candy for this fall season, which includes Kit Kat’s ‘Witch’s Brew.’ This year, the retuning, limited edition Kit Kat bar comes packed with a marshmallow-flavored creme. Thoroughly committed to its spooky season theme, the chocolate even comes in a creepy green coating and is packaged in a wrapper adorned with an animated witch brewing her cauldron. A favorite of last year’s trick-or-treaters, this updated candy bar will be sure to satisfy customers’ sweet tooth this holiday season.

Though polarizing to many, candy corn still ranks in the top three Halloween candies as ranked by the National Confectioners’ Association. Leveraging the popularity of the Halloween treat, Ferrara is coming out with new versions of candy corn in the form of NERDS candy corn and Minions candy corn.

  1. Applebee’s is serving up 2 new cocktails | Tipsy Zombie & Dracula’s Juice

Spooky season has officially arrived and Applebee’s wants to help fans get in the spirit with two spooky new Halloween cocktails: Dracula’s Juice and Tipsy Zombie.

Applebee’s is well known for serving up jumbo cocktails at a wallet-friendly price and its new Halloween sippers stay true to that theme. First up is a cocktail called Dracula’s Juice, which is described as a “wildberry creation of a Patron Tequila margarita and Bacardi Superior daiquiri.” The other new cocktail is the Tipsy Zombie, which combines Bacardi Superior rum with passion fruit, pineapple, cherry, lime, and melon liqueur, in addition to a gummy brain candy on top.
