Horecatrends | Tips for culinary videos worth watching – week 16
YouTube has been a source of inspiration for spotting trends past few years. Every day, thousands of movies are uploaded with new and interesting content. We too sometimes use videos as a source of inspiration to write about. With this week again a selection of videos which Micha Luksenburg thinks are worth watching.
This week a video about Chef Miro Uskokovic at the Gramercy Tavern who uses alternative sugars and he is making a delicious looking ‘ice cream sundae’ with these sugars. Next to that a video about a special collaboration between Airbnb and the Louvre museum and finally a video about drones delivering coffee in Australia.
Sugar Alternatives | Used in ‘ice cream sundae’
Food can have a lot of influence on your mood, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good meal? Chef Miro Uskokovic also loves a good and flavorful meal, but when he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease it seemed to him that he couldn’t eat a flavorful meal anymore. Extensive use of sugar or product who contain lots of sugar aren’t healthy for anybody, but especially not for people diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. They even suffer more from extensive use of white sugar. The chef at Gramercy Tavern started experimenting and shows in this video of Eater that there are many alternatives for white sugar. And he makes an ice cream sundae that looks mouthwatering.

Airbnb X louvre | A special collaboration
Ever wondered what’s happening at night in museum Louvre? Then you should have entered this contest, unfortunately it’s closed! The one with the best answer to the question: “Why are you the best guest for Mona Lisa?” had the chance to win a stay at the Louvre. The winners will be welcomed by a VIP-guide who will give the guests a tour throughout the most beautiful spots at the museum. At the ‘Mona Lisa’ the quests will receive an aperitif followed by a dinner in front of the ‘Venus of Milo’. After that an intimate concert will take place in the bedroom of Napoleon III. Paris is an extremely important city for both Airbnb and the Louvre so therefore these two collaborated, with this contest they also celebrate their 10th and 30th birthday.

Coffee delivery from the sky | Drones on a mission
Order a coffee and getting it delivered within three minutes, for many a dream come true. At the capital of Australia, Canberra, your coffee can now be delivered by a drone. With the help of an GPS system the drone flies to the correct address. Once the drone is at the location, the package with the coffee is being lowered. At the moment the coffee drone delivery is still in a testing phase with the ultimate goal of reducing the amount of vehicles on the road. Alphabet’s Project Wing is delivering hot coffee and food, hardware supplies and drugstore items via drones near Australia’s capital.
