Masterchef Soenil Bahadoer, chef and owner of Restaurant ‘De Lindehof’ in Nuenen (The Netherlands), has a Surinamese Hindustani background. You can find his culture reflected in the taste, smell and colours of his dishes. In 2014 restaurant De Lindehof got a 2nd Michelin star. Holi Phagwa
The dish ‘scallop – pumpkin – Madame Jeanette’ is inspired by the Holi Phagwa, the Hindu spring festival. This holiday marks the new year and coincides with the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere. People sing and dance, sprinkle each other with coloured powder.
