Frank is opening a second location in Brussels, in the plinth of the new Citybox hotel on Stephania Square, in the Louiza neighbourhood. The new spot builds on the success of owners Mathias and Marianne’s first shop, next to the Monnaie. Frank’s philosophy will continue in the second establishment both during the day and in the evening. Frank and the hotel will open its doors in early September.

Frank | More space for ‘made from scratch’ production

“The preparation kitchen at Frank Muntplein is bursting after four years, so the extra space of the new location gives us more opportunities to focus even more on our ‘made from scratch’ production,” says Mathias Smet, business manager.

Who is Frank?

In 2020, after working at Humus & Hortense and an adventure in Melbourne, chef Mathias and his wife Marianne opened their Australian-inspired Frank in the centre of Brussels. Frank has since become one of Brussels’ most refined breakfast and specialty coffee hotspots, holding the middle ground between coffee bar and restaurant. Frank is located in the pedestrian zone next to opera, De Munt. The restaurant has a capacity of 90 seats inside and 60 seats on their terrace.

Frank’s philosophy | Following the rhythm of the field

Everything from basic ingredient to finished product is processed in their own kitchen. With an eye for sustainability and a focus on vegetables, they offers guests the very best that Brussels has to offer. They work directly with small and local suppliers who offer organic produce and a story. By following the rhythms of the field, the menu remains constantly evolving.

Sustainable local producers and waste management

Frank received the Brussels Region’s Good Food label with their maximum score. This thanks in part to its close cooperation with local producers, such as: Le Monde de Mille Couleurs, Champignons de Bruxelles, 3 Fountains, Mok, Stéphane Longlune, IJzerkotmolen and many more.

Their organic waste is collected by bicycle, composted and redistributed to farmers so they can reuse it in the fields. In September, Frank Stéphanie will open at 17 Charleroise Steenweg, 1060 Saint-Gilles.
