Opening – Today, Rotterdam’s first English gastropub opens in the middle of the bustling Witte de Withstraat. Guests are warmly welcomed by the smell of typical English dishes, such as fish & chips and steak & guiness pie, but can also opt for appetizers such as avocado fries and beetroot balls. The high-quality dishes are freshly prepared daily, on the drinks menu you will find beers, ciders and gin tonics. All, of course, from British origin. Not only the menu but also the interior has been given a classic ‘gastropub look’. With a burgundy, oak and brass colour palette and stained glass, guests can imagine themselves in bustling London. However, the daring figures on the wall and ceiling remind you of the fact that you are in raw Rotterdam.
At Dutch Dukes you get acquainted with the casual British pub ambiance ‘at its finest’.

Casual pub ambiance in gastropub Dutch Dukes
Rotterdam is known for its cultural diversity. You can see, taste and smell that within the countless restaurants, tokos and cafes. There is no shortage of choice, but there was still no typical English pub. That is why Rotterdam catering entrepreneur Frank Roolaart (owner of ‘HAL4 aan de Maas’) is opening the city’s first English gastropub today. “In the past, English pubs were known as dark, smoky cafes where people hung out at the bar. These old-fashioned pubs have since been elevated to quality gastropubs where friends, colleagues and acquaintances come together. Rotterdam deserves a similar place where people discuss their working day, enjoy fresh dishes and toast to life,” says Frank Roolaart. At Dutch Dukes, guests experience the authentic casual British pub ambiance in combination with a raw Rotterdam edge.
