Ecocamp Patagonia in the Torres del Paine region is an eco-friendly camping option in Chile which already opened in 2001. It’s the first fully sustainable accommodation south of the Amazon which has the world’s first state-of-the-art geodesic dome hotel rooms. The camp is located in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia and was voted as 32^nd best hotel in the world in 2017.

EcoCamp Patagonia was founded in 2001 by Yerko Ivelic and Javier Lopez, two Chilean engineers and the founders of Cascada Expediciones. With the goal to create a unique, sustainable accommodation option in the remote Torres del Paine area, they took inspiration from the local indigenous Kaweskar tribe and their “leave no trace” lifestyle and houses, crafting state-of-the-art geodesic domes that run on solar and hydraulic energy, are fully eco-friendly, and allow guests an immersion with their surroundings that other hotels lack. It was the first hotel of its kind in the world. Since then, EcoCamp has served as an inspiration and trailblazer in ecotourism, inspiring the creation of eight other similar hotels around the world, and spurring interest in sustainability and ecotourism in the region.

Cascada Expediciones

EcoCamp is owned and operated by Chilean in-bound tour operator Cascada Expediciones, specializing in adventure trips of the highest quality. Cascada Expediciones was founded in the region of Patagonia, Chili and over the last twenty five years they have been running eco-friendly trips in Patagonia, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia with activities including trekking, mountaineering, horseback riding, rafting, kayaking, skiing, wildlife observation and wine tours. In the last twenty five years over 20,000 people visiting Chile have enjoyed Cascada-operated tours at EcoCamp Patagonia and throughout Chile.
