Dominique Ansel Bakery | ‘Zero gravity’ cake
Last week Dominique Ansel Bakery’s second location inside the Mitsukoshi Ginza department store opened in Tokyo. To highlight the opening, Dominique and his Japanese team created the ‘zero gravity’ cake, cake that floats inside a balloon.

A new item at the long list of famous DAB (Dominique Ansel Bakery) pastries of which the images are widely spread through Instagram and Facebook. Remember the Cronut, the Milk & Cookie shots, the Waffogato? Well in the meantime Dominique created a lot of other pastries for the sweet tooth Japanese fans, like a Good Luck Cat; a roasted tomato hot dog bun shaped like a puppy; and now a ‘zero gravity’ cake that floats inside a balloon that customers must pop before they can eat it. Check out his Instagram account for more pictures or watch Ansel pop a balloon in the video here.

Dominique Ansel is sometimes described as the Willy Wonka of the pastry world. Recently he won a pretty serious award in Melbourne: the World’s Best Pastry Chef. The award was announced at the presentation of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017. A reward for creating good food, keeping it simple and tapping people’s emotions with his creations. At this moment in time, he has bakeries in the USA, Tokyo and in London. Los Angeles is next on his list.
