Think with Google, food trends based on the top searches in the United States. In this report Google gives an insight how the power of data can be used to predict and use trends. Because we know that trends spotted in the United States most likely will hit Europe in the next couple of years, we love to share some of these so-called food trends. We made a list of dishes and products that most probably will be popular soon in Europe as well. More than one million Dutch people use Snapchat currently. 56% of the users are between the age of 15 and 19 and 11% are between the age of 20 and 39. Only 2% of the people that are 40+ downloaded Snapchat. This is shown in the ‘Nationale Social Media Onderzoek 2016’, a Dutch research about Social Media. Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle? Which Pokémons did you catch? Pokémon GO has been launched in Japan and Australia two weeks ago and is since this weekend also available in the Netherlands. Since there are so many people who are playing the game there are a lot of companies that try to pick up the hype, also in the hospitality industry. For example the Pokébal pancake in Aalten, free drinks for those who catch a Pokémon, a Pokémon GO bus tour, a Pokémon GO Festvial and people are even spotting Pokémons during the Nijmeegse wandelvierdaagse (a 4 day walkingtour). It’s almost time for the opening of the new restaurant of Hilton Rotterdam! About one and half month ago Hilton launched a contest for residents of Rotterdam to come up with the best name for the new restaurant. In the meantime, 10 names were selected and is it up to the jury to decide which name will win the contest.
Bloggers are taking over in ‘de Foodhallen’

Visitors of ‘De Foodhallen’ are able to get their food and drinks at pop-up foodstands on the 25th till the 29th of May. Everyday there will be a different famous Dutch foodblogger presenting their culinary food to visitors. The bloggers are taking over!
BrewDog experience will include a hotel

The Scottisch craft-beer brewery BrewDog is set to move forward with its plans to open a craft beer-themed hotel. They will build the BrewDog hotel in the neighbourhood of their brewery, with a ‘PUNK IPA’ tap in the hotel rooms. A true BrewDog experience. Through a crowdfunding campaign which ended last week they managed to raise 19 million pounds. The money is going to be used to build the new hotel and a new brewery. They will also invest in more pubs.
