Pop-up greenhouse Cypress Hills

The Greenhouse Project is a project that’s created as a result of obesity and diabetes in the low-income neighborhood Cypress Hills (New York). This pop-up greenhouse will provide the population with healthy food and will have a capacity of 8,000 pound per 3 months. Because the area has many vacant lots, it has the ability to move multiple times per year. The organization has a presence in Manhattan with hydroponic projects at schools since 2010 and hopefully it will enter Cypress Hills soon. See the greenhouse here.

Amsterdams’ first pop-up winebar

The Pop-up Wine Bar will be opening her doors in Amsterdam from 17 November until 23 December. You can taste 41 different wines by the glass and even per sip. The price per glass will vary from € 3,50 to € 350,= and a small menu will be offered such as several types of cheese, delicacies and sushi to accompany the wines. The Pop-up Wine Bar provides with a living room, a bedroom, a large kitchen table, a tv-corner and a bubblebad. Moreover it is allowed to smoke inside, to enjoy a sigaret in bed to create the perfect home-away-from-home feeling.

Helsinki filled with pop-up restaurants

Helsinki is preparing for the successful event Restaurant Day on the 19th of November. The city will be filled with pop-up restaurants of non-professional chefs, with very various concepts. Sirén and his friends Antti Tuomola and Timo Santala came up with idea for this one-day pop-up catering event. The news was being spread through Facebook and the media picked it up, which enabled the first event to become a major success in which two hundred chefs served thousands of customers.

Pop-up Ramen shop in Amsterdam

Movie Director Fow Pyng Hu opened a new pop-up “Ramen shop” in Amsterdam on the 16th of October. This is the first pop-up Ramen shop that has opened in the Netherlands. “Ramen” is a Japanese dish in where noodles swim in a soup, finished with a topping. The pop-up Ramen shop, named “Le fou Fow”, is situated on the second floor of a Chinese supermarket called “Dun Yong”.

Martin Morales will open a pop-up cevicheria in Londen, named Ceviche, which stands for a Peruvian fish dish. Their website provides an interesting peek into the Peruvian kitchen. Max Messier is the creator behind the popular ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ cocktail pop-up bar. He creates cocktails which are seasonal concoctions, made of hand-made vermouths, bitters and syrups. Due to its great success, the cocktail bar also pops-up at informal locations at people’s homes. This summer he opened a cocktail bar in Brooklyn.
