It is an old Jewish saying that means something like wishing someone a lot of worries and a lot of misery but many hospitality companies are currently having a lot of worries due to the lack of employees. Of course, the best approach is to discuss with your team what you can do to make sure those who work for you are staying. We’ve come across solutions such as closing an extra day, adjusting opening hours, but also snatching staff away from other restaurants. And of course making wages more congruent with other industries. Yet there are colleagues who approach it differently, we have made a list of examples for hospitality owners who are having a hard time finding new employees.

Camionette brings plant-based fine dining restaurant to PAKT site in Antwerp

Opening in Antwerp – Camille and Boqion from Camion opened their second branch – plant-based fine dining Camionette – on the PAKT site on Friday 1 July. What initially began in 2019 as a plant-based lunch and aperitif business soon turned into a full-blown restaurant. They soon came up against the limits of their small premises, especially the very small kitchen, so after three years it is time to move to a place where they can once again expand their culinary ambitions. From now on, Camion will continue as a low key breakfast and lunch bar, while at Camionette you can go in the afternoon as well as in the evening for all sorts of sharing dishes or a nice glass of natural wine at the bar.
HosPETality | Examples of pet-friendly gestures

A couple of weeks ago we spotted the great term HosPETality and because we travel with our family & office dog, Labradoodle Jimmy, we spot a lot of examples of pet-friendly gestures. In hotels you have to pay a small fee for the dog but mostly you get a bowl, doggy pillows and if the dog is lucky, a treat! It already starts with the reservation, we booked a stay at a hotel in Spain and because we gave notice of our dog and asked them to book a table for dinner, they emailed us that they booked us a table at the terrace so Jimmy could accompany us for dinner. Just thoughtfull! We made a list of very great small gestures hotels and restaurants can implement.

Postillion Hotels help employees by paying off student debt

Postillion Hotels pays off the student debt of their employees with 2.50 euros per worked hour. This repayment is in addition to the regular salary of the employees. With this initiative, the hotel chain hopes to be able to take away some financial struggles so there is more room for growth and development. The initiative is the result of a graduation project by students of Hotel Management School Maastricht.

On Tuesday, the 16th of August, Racepark Amsterdam at Fletcher Hotel Amsterdam will open its doors. With the recent opening of Racepark Uden-Veghel at Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Teugel Uden-Veghel, this is the second location in a Fletcher Hotel. In this brand new Racepark you can race in advanced simulators on multiple kinds of racetracks and with different racing cars. The simulator recreates races into the smallest details, which makes guests feel as if they are really driving the circuit.
