Since this week guests can enjoy the ‘Knoopjelos Menu’ at restaurant Le Marron in Malden and restaurant Jerome in Valkenburg (both in the Netherlands). This menu consists of the best signature dishes and several wine-food combinations, and a couple of surprises supplemented. Unlike most discount weeks, you can order this menu anytime you like, even for lunch.
The Lapin Kulta Solar Kitchen is a temporary restaurant that uses solar energy to cook. Last yea,r the initiative traveled to Helsinki, Stockholm and Milano. The use solar heat creates an unique texture and tast. The cooks claim that it creates a whole new taste experience.
Hurricane Irene has done a lot of damage in the state of New York. Many farmers lost their harvest. To help these farmers and other casualties of the hurricane, over 100 restaurants in New York have donated 10% of their day revenue last Sunday. These revenues were donated to a charity fund that helps casualties from the hurricane Irene.
Curious what will be on the menu in 2020. The weekend of the 24th and 25th of September is the Foodlab at the Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam. There will be all kinds of extraordinarily foods. The travelguide designer “Luxe” has launched a new travelguide serie. This new serie is called “Little Luxe” and is specially developed for families. The guide focusses on family friendly activities in major cities. The first guide for HongKong is already available.
The Austrian company Nectar and Pulse offers a new kind of ‘travel guide’. When looking for tips and suggestions of a particular city, they choose a personal guide (as they call it a ‘soulmate’) who gives you tips. This ‘soulmate’ is chosen by similar interests and personalities. This service is currently available for Londen, Vienna and Stockholm.
Bistrot de la Place – Chez Norbert in The Hague is proclaimed by the Dutch magazine ‘Leven in Frankrijk’ (Living in France) to Finest French restaurant of the Netherland. This restaurant was chosen of 10 nominees. The restaurant organises on regular base ‘Soirées Chansons Françaises’, where the owners sings French songs, to complete the experience of the evening.
The second Wash & Coffee in the world is opened in Amsterdam. It is an initiative from Persil and Bosch and opened in München before. In a wash & coffee there is the possibillity to wash, study, lunch and use internet.
Turntable Kitchen is started by a couple from San Francisco, who combine music and food. Every month they create a Turntable Kitchen Pairings Box, which includes a 7-inch vinyl single with tracks of their favourite bands, several recipes, local premium dried ingredients and suggested pairings. This box will be send monthly to their members.
