With this week links to articles about Deliveroo that opened its first real restaurant in London, Pizza Paradiso. Do you wonder why?

 The award ceremony of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 in July moves from Moscow to London. And Ikea opened its first city centre shopping mall in west London, Livar.

Also in London: the reopening of The Connaught Grill. Another opportunity to taste the cuisine of Jean-Georges Vongerichten. And European aparthotel operator Staycity has opened a new-build property at Germany’s Frankfurt Airport this month, its third opening in Germany, bringing its total apartment count up to 5,000 in 30 properties at 14 European destinations.

Being able to get a pizza from a vending machine 24/7: Resto’Clock currently installs about 30 vending machines per month in France and Belgium. We also came across BistroBox in Austria where you can pull a pizza from the machine within 2 minutes.

The #KentuckyFriedGivingChallenge in America is a good example of involving young guests in ‘a good cause’ via TIKTOK®. And in the field of sustainability, we came across the Norwegian material science company B’ZEOS. They are working with international companies to replace single-use plastics with seaweed-based alternatives.

The founders of the beloved restaurant The Avocado Show, Julien Zaal and Ron Simpson will open a new format of their fast-growing chain on Saturday 12 March. Centrally located between The Hague and Leiden, the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands is the ideal place for the first Dutch branch of The Avocado Show outside of Amsterdam.

Designed in collaboration with their permanent creative team at Aces of Space, this new version of The Avocado Show with 80 seats and a surface area of ​​190m2 has the appearance of a colorful patio. The guests sit under natural light and are surrounded by many green-pink color accents; the well-known setting of The Avocado Show. Original dishes are served, in their signature style, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Think of the now world famous poke bowl, stacked pancakes, an avocado smashed burger and even cocktails, where the avocado seeds are used as ice cubes.

Patron-cuisinier Peter Gast of restaurant Graphite (* Michelin) opens underground venue Obsidian by Graphite in the heart of Amsterdam on 3 March. The top chef will experiment with plant-based dishes and you can enjoy (unplugged) music at this location.

The intimate space, complete with a cozy bar, low stage and comfortable seats, are an invitation to relaxed or exciting evenings, filled with good food, a good glass of wine and the best music. The cozy and informal location offers space for vegan dinners, live music and the best performances ever. Obsidian by Graphite can also be booked for private events or meetings, provided by restaurant Graphite.

Opening – Patron-cuisinier Edwin Muns has taken over the operation of restaurant Poelzicht in Kapel-Avezaath near Tiel. As of September 1, 2021, he reopened the doors under the name Brasserie Poelzicht. After various lockdowns due to corona between November 2021 and February 2022, the entrepreneur can now finally fully open its doors. Unique in the region is the French bistro cuisine combined with strictly French wines.

The Betuwe in the middle of the Netherlands is great region for cycling and since I am part of the ‘cycling gray brigade’, I would love to go there for lunch or dinner during or after a bike ride. The French bistro dishes sound delicious! ^Marjolein

For over a week you have been able to reserve your private karaoke booth at the Duke Of Tokyo in Utrecht in the Ganzenmarkt Tunnel. After a long wait and speculating about the opening date, it’s finally here! This Thursday, February 17, Duke of Tokyo will officially open its second location on the Ganzenmarkt Tunnel in the heart of Utrecht.
