Enjoying late summer with Aperol Spritz

Although the summer is slowly leaving us, you still can enjoy the Italian summer with this drink Aperol Spritz. For decades, this is a well-known drink in Italy, but is conquering the rest of Europe. Aperol Spritz consists of Aperol, prosecco and soda. The taste is sweet with a hint of bitterness of oranges and herbs, perfectly finished by adding ice cubes and a slice of orange. Available at the Dutch supermarket Albert Heijn and Mitra.
Disney restort on Hawaii

Disney took the first step towards the hotel industry by opening Aulani Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, which is a hotel outside the theme parks. The hotel covers an area of 21 acres and features over 800 rooms. The hotel offers several Disney ‘experiences’ like several swimming pools with activities such as diving and snorkeling, and a beach house which offers kids-entertainment. For the adults, the hotel offers a spa and several restaurants.

We saw this before in South Korea, where the supermarket chain Tesco developed a virtual shop at a subway station. The British online supermarket ‘Ocado’ created a shopping wall in a mall in the centre of London, where people can select their groceries by using their smarthphone and QR scanner. The groceries are directly ordered online and by the time they arrive at home, the groceries are delivered.
Japanese grill-restaurant & Sake Bar

This week, Japanese restaurant Ichi-e (which means a meeting or rendez-vous) opened its doors officially at the Arena Boulevard in Amsterdam. The three-story building features a sushibar and take-away on the ground floor. The first floor features the Robota Grill restaurant, where guests can enjoy shared-dining grilled meals. On the top floor, the restaurant offers the Densha Lounge (which means ‘train’ in Japanese) where guests can order bite-size snacks. This lounge is as well suitable for meetings or other private (company) parties. Besides, Ichi-e offers as well sake-tastings where guests can taste different kinds of sake.
This Weekend Foodlab 2020 in Rotterdam

Curious what will be on the menu in 2020. The weekend of the 24th and 25th of September is the Foodlab at the Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam. There will be all kinds of extraordinarily foods. You can expect things like ragout and croquettes from wild goose, protein-rich insects, bites that taste like fish but are made from seaweed and much more. Gordon Ramsay presents Hotel Hell

British kitchen chef Gorden Ramsay starts a new tv show called ‘Hotel Hell’. It’s based on his other show ‘Kitchen of Nightmares’. The show Hotel Hell focuses on hotels, motels and B&B’s. Mr Ramsay will work together with a team of experts to assist these “hotels from hell”. The show will be broadcasted by Fox in the USA. When will it be on tv in the Netherlands?
Launch of cooking channel 24Kitchen

The days that Dutch people only cook from a recipe book are beyond. Nowadays we see the most amazing recipes on the television. 24Kitchen focuses on food and will start at the first of October to broadcast cooking shows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These shows vary from simple do-it-yourself programs to culinary discovery journeys abroad. Most broadcasters send the signal at channel 24, there is also an app and an interactive website integrated in their multi media platform. The daily renewed episodes are programmed multiple times a day to reach different audiences. So check your shopping list at your smartphone, put the television in the kitchen, cook along and ask your questions via the website or Twitter.

Martin Morales will open a pop-up cevicheria in Londen, named Ceviche, which stands for a Peruvian fish dish. Their website provides an interesting peek into the Peruvian kitchen.
