In cities like New York and Bangkok diverse streetfood is commonly. The Netherlands lack a diverse streetfood offer. There is a law introduced in the ’30s that demands permets for streetfood. The permits are mainly provided to hotdog stands, deepfried dough during winter months and ice cream stands. At the moment the waiting list for permits is as long as thirty years for popular places like the Vondelpark. With the Streetfood petition initiator Steff Veldkamp from Vleesch noch Visch wants to put this issue on the political agenda and underline the fact that nowadays’ foodtrucks can be equipped like regular professional restaurant kitchens.
Dom Perignon Suite Amstel Hotel

InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam has opened the first Champagne Suite by Dom Pérignon on October 17. The luxurious appearance and quality of Dom Pérignon returns into the interior of the suite. For the design and styling LM Flower Fashion and Puurflow were attracted. The suite is characterized by high-gloss black and silver with solid wood furniture. There is a stage for leading Dutch and international artists to exhibit their designs and creations. At this moment the exclusive soccer table by Piet Hein Eek is exhibited in the suite. In collaboration with the Nation Museum and a number of Dutch photographers hang replicas of artworks in the suite. Watch the video of the Dom Pérignon suite.
Cava Brutal

The new ‘Cava Brutal’ is a non-traditonal, non-conformist bubble. The cava from Spain has a 18-month maturation (reserva) and is composed with the indigenous grape varieties Macabeo, Xarello, Parellada and Chardonnay. The ‘Cava Brutal’ is produced at winery DO Cava, located in the heart of the Penedés and Cava region, near Barcelona. Superrebel.com has developed this special cava in collaboration with Spanish winemaker Joan Rovira (agricultural engineer and oenologist). The bottle has a striking design, the bright orange color combined with black gives the bottle a clean look.
Paulaner Brauhaus and Restaurant opened in NYC

Paulaner International has opened its first micro brewery ‘Paulaner Brauhaus & Restaurant’ in New York City. This is the first Paulaner Brauwhaus that opened in America, perhaps more will follow in the future. At the ‘Paulaner Brauhaus & Restaurant’ six of their special beers are brewed according to the original German ‘Beer Putiry Law’ established in 1516. On tap they will have the beers München Lager and München Dars, Hefeweizen (wheat beer) and two seasonal beers. The Brauhaus & Restaurant have got some bites like the famous German pretzels, sauerkrauts and different types of sausages.

Now it is possible to print your favorite Instagram photos on marshmallows. Very simple, you choose nine of your favorite Instagram photos and Boomf delivers the pictures on 4cmx4cm vanilla marshmallows. The site advises to use relative simple pictures with a good contrast. At this moment, the marshmallows are only available in the United Kingdom for £ 12, but there are plans to introduce the marshmallows internationally next year. Camellia’s Tea House in London offers tea lovers a new special way to consume their favorite drink. During the ‘Experimental Food Society Spectacular 2013’, the teabar introduced the ‘Breathable Tea Room’ where visitors could inhale the tea through a straw. The tea is evaporated and served as a smoky gas that could be inhaled through a straw. Because the tea is evaporated, it contains no calories, you avoid a burnt tongue and the antioxidants in the tea are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Earlier we spotted the Vaportini which alcoholic beverages are vaporized and can be inhaled using a straw.
Sander van Veenendaal drafts perfect beer

To enhance the draft beer quality worldwide, Heineken introduced the Star Serve program. The goal of the program is to optimize the skills of bartenders and enhance customers’ expectations of draft beer. As a part of this optimalization, the brewer has challenged bar tenders around the world to draft the perfect beer. At the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam, Dutchman Sander van Veenendaal (Grand Café de Lindenhof, Soest) overclassed 19 bartenders from i.a. Malaysia, Ireland, Dubai, Brasil and Mexico and won the Global Bartender Final. Over 3000 locations worldwide participate in the Heineken Star Serve program, 300 of them are Dutch.
Bar Restaurant Level serves mini version of famous burger

Bar Restaurant Level Rotterdam will present their new sliders during Bubbles & Burgers on November 28. The sliders are a smaller version of the famous Level Burger which was voted as the best burger in Rotterdam. The burger is made of organic beef with bacon, cheddar and tartar sauce. The smaller variant is ideal as a snack that you can combine with bubbles. During the first edition of Bubbles & Burger the gin and tonics are provided by Gin and Tonic Club with jazzy music by a dj in a living room setting.
A theater of wines

A tent at a festival or celebration for wine lovers. Register Viticulturist and Sommelier Barbara Verbeek is the creator of this concept together with Barend Havenaar of Champagnebar.nl. They want to put all your senses to work in their wine theater. Barbara completed the wine academy for viticulturist in 2001. She got her title sommelier and wine and foodpairing expert in 2002 and recently became a Registered Viticulturist. She runs the wine theater events and celebrations at events like Manifesto, Valtifest and “A Day at the Park ‘.
NIX18

The age limit for buying alcohol and tobacco in the Netherlands will increase to 18 years on January 1, 2014. The Ministry of Health has launched the campaign NIX18 in collaboration with a number of partners. The campaign was kicked of on November 18 in the Feyenoord Stadium by Ronald Koeman and the secretary of Healthy Martin van Rijn. NIX18 draws attention that young people under the age of eighteen should not smoke or drink. Some famous Dutchies tell their story about not drinking or smoking under the age of eighteen on the website of NIX18. Partners of the campaign also organize some one-on-one activities for children and their parents to encourage to explain that they are not allowed to buy alcohol and tobacco.
