Golden tickets for lunches at the Food Film Festival

Food Film Festival (FFF) organizes a lunch + movie, themed ‘Proefwerk’ on Friday May 9th. Proefwerk was the heading of the famous culinary critic Johannes van Dam for the newspaper Het Parool. FFF brought three of his favorite chefs from Amsterdam together, all assed with a 9,5 or higher, to prepare a lunch. Chefs Iwan Driessen of Rijsel, Richard van Oostenbrugge of Bord’Eau and Michiel van Eerde of Bault will prepare a unique lunch together. The lunch is served in the pop-up restaurant of FFF at the Westergasfabriek (Amsterdam). By buying a golden ticket you support the FFF pop-up restaurant. The golden tickets cost € 80,= per person and are available via the site. The first golden tickets were sold last week for a lunch + movie by the Pourcel brothers (and still available!).
Toss Your Boss from the Hyatt Regency SF

Rappeling from the 23-story Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, this is possible at the 27th and 28th of March! On the 28st various VIP’s will be rappelling and labelled as ‘City Rappel Day’. With this promotion Outward Bound California and the Hyatt Regency will raise money for OTE (Over The Edge). This is an organization in America that offers outdoor learning opportunities for people with low incomes, and teach those people that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. Haircut at the bar

Every Tuesday Lotte Maas (35) cuts at café bar Baarsch, Amsterdam. As ‘Amsterdam pop-up hairdresser’ they cut some eight clients a night in the pub. Previously she cut include at Club VLLA, festivals and soon at OT301. Easy for anyone with too little time for a haircut during office hours and weekends. In addition, waiting is a lot more fun with a beer and for the bar owner it’s a win as well because there is extra traffic on a Tuesday night.
Cinema Culinair at nhow Rotterdam

Cinema on location is getting more and more populair. Recently we’ve spotted the hot tub cinema’s in Amsterdam, in April the movie ‘Lost in Translation’ is screened at the nhow hotel in Rotterdam. On 18 and 19 April guests can drink a Suntory whisky during the movie just like the main character Bob Harris.
Dinner and Movie at restaurant One

Michelin starred restaurant One in Roermond (the Netherlands) will organize a ‘Dinner and Movie’ night every Tuesday night as of March 11. During these nights a dinner is combined with a food movie at ECI Cultuurfabriek, in the month March it will be the documentary ‘Spinning Plates’ about three American top restaurants. Before the movie the restaurant serves a three- or four-course dinner and afterwards guests can have a drink at the bar.
Super Mari, from grocery to bar

During the day a grocery, in the evening a bar. Super Mari, located in Vienna, is in the early hours of the day an Italian grocery and sells Italian products, ranging from coffee, pasta to canned specialties. In the late afternoon and evening the space transforms into a bar where guests can have an appetizer. Super Mari is designed by Lukas Galehr of architecture MadameMorh. The entire interior is made of white and black tiles. In the evening the panels can be rolled down so the shelves with products are hidden.
Temporary city in empty building

Jaap Urban started a project to provide a temporary practical solution for one empty building in Groningen at the end of April or the beginning of May 2014. With the launch of tijdelijkestad.nl he motivates citizens and entrepreneurs to think along about the optimal use of a building for one week. Potential buildings can be suggested via the website, when one is found, the contents of the program and pop-up stores can be filled in. This can vary from temporary shops and sport facilities to restaurants and office space for entrepreneurs. Next that events and workshops will complement the program for the period.
Within three weeks a suitable building will be picked.
Hotel The Thief and the Russian Kiss

The hotel ‘The Thief’ in Tjuvholmen (Norway) welcomed its guests at the first day of the Olympic Games with French kissing hetero and gay couples from different races. The campaign is inspired by a video from Norwegian singer Annie and Norwegian visual artist Bjarne Melgaard and in collaboration with a national LGBT-organization. With the campaign the hotel supports the #principle6 campaign, based on the Olympic values. The video of kissing people is projected in room #410 and visible at street level for two weeks.
Pop-up bowling alley in nightclub Trouw

Since last weekend, you can go bowling in nightclub Trouw in Amsterdam. There are three professional bowling lanes in the basement of Trouw where you can play from February 7 to March 2. Club Lebowski places pop-up bowling alleys at various locations and it took three days to place the bowling alleys at Trouw. During restaurant and club hours guests can throw strikes, spares and gutter balls along with up to six friends. The bowling alleys are open from Tuesday to Saturday for €10,= per hour.
The first Dutch hot tub cinema in Amsterdam

The first Dutch hot tub cinema is located in Amsterdam from 6 to 9 March. In the ‘Machinegebouw’ at the Westergasterrein are 21 hot tubs and two cinema screens. You could book a hot tub with five friends and you will get a waiter service, bottle of cava and a private bath robe but it is already sold out. After the movie there is a bathrobe after party with a DJ. The concept is inspired by the Hot Tub cinema in London.
