8-2-2019
Leonie van Spronsen, lives and works in New York and enjoys new concepts that she spots in the hospitality industry. In this blog she argues for more crossovers in the hospitality industry and gives an example, the cheeseburger dumplings created by Mimi Chengs & Emily. In addition, she thinks that hospitality entrepreneurs should contact friends from within the industry to see what they could create together. Might be a great opportunity to generate more publicity and buzz for your business! She loves to hear (and taste) what you’ve created!

Happy holidays | Christmas decorations 2018
20-12-2018
We are in the dark days before Christmas, with real Dutch weather. A little bit of once or twice and mostly wind and rain. Time to create a ‘Christmassy’ restaurant! In September we always give an overview of what we have spotted in the previous Christmas period for inspiration. Below our colleague Max van Oeveren has made a list of small examples up to the great Christmas tree at Claridge’s Hotel in London and special Christmas decorations, as inspiration for hotels, restaurants, bars and of course for at home.
This is the last article on Horecatrends for this year. We wish you a warm, cozy holiday season and lots of inspiration and happiness in 2019. For those who have to work in the hospitality industry, we wish you many nice guests!
The use of power banks in the hospitality industry
15-11-2018
For restaurant owners it will always be important to continue to respond to the needs of the modern guest. The modern guest with his cell phone, we mean! We have already seen several solutions for this, from actions to enthuse guests to switch off the phone during dinner to offering various possibilities to charge their mobile. This doesn’t always have to go hand in hand with huge investments, an example of restaurant De Dorpskamer in Ermelo (the Netherlands), which offers their guests power banks to charge their mobile phone at the table.

In addition, we spotted several other providers that are working on food based on your DNA, examples of Nestlé and of a DNA company in America that works with Amazon to deliver personalized meals at home.
We would like to taste the meals of Vita Mojo … however, handing over your DNA sample to third parties? Your DNA sample is pretty much the only thing that’s really ‘yours’ nowadays. Would you do it?

10-7-2018
We spotted Choco Kebab some years back but the last couple of weeks we got a couple of Facebook posts about this sweet version of shawarma. We also spotted a DIY shawarma in New York City and most recently a vegan shawarma that’s being served at Noma in Copenhagen. Here in the Netherlands we love a great shawarma joint, especially if they serve it with lamb meat. But we never spotted a vegan version before, some inspiration in this article!
